This snippet from an article in HUN which discusses VFL players who might get a gig in the AFL. Can anyone shed some more light on this player.

Position: Key defender; AGE: 22; HEIGHT: 195cm; WEIGHT: 98kg
Similar to: Tom Williams

Mohr combines strength and size with a splash of speed. Can pinch-hit in the ruck and is renowned for demolishing opposition attacks and then taking the game on.

Coach Brad Gotch: “He can play on a medium-tall to a really tall. When he’s on, he marks the ball and then takes off and can pump it 60-70m.”

If we don't use our first rounder on Buckley, i'd shop it around.
Supposedly got 2 first round quality players last year as well as a weak draft this year.

Agree totally. I'd be taking the punt on landing a ready made forward or midfielder.

I know it's nice to remain traditional (i.e. using father son), but I doubt a small midfielder or winger will be a major part of us winning a flag.

Getting a 30-40goal big man could definitely be the difference between a flag or not. Two picks or a first rounder and a fringe player may get that for us.

I would look to keep our picks the year after though, in the so-called 'super-draft'. I would even look to shop some veterans to position ourselves with extra picks in that draft.

I watch a fair bit of VFL and I think there are several key defenders that we should be looking at. Mohr is a name that I hadn't heard about before this season and having seen him on TV he looks like the type of defender that would play on the gorillas that usually destroy our defence. In the games I've seen he has provided good rebound and has a thumping kick on him. Lots of clubs are rumoured to be looking at him and it wouldn't surprise me if he cost a second round pick.

Toby Thoolen from Frankston is another defender/forward that I like and playing for Frankston has really helped him make the transition from the forward line to the backline.

I noticed that article as well and I was going to see if anyone knew anything about him.

Could be an option for a late pick in the ND or a rookie draft pick for us. And he is in the right age group as the rest of our defence.

Just about every Carlton supporter has read it...in fact i've read it ten times hoping more 193+ players might appear :D

If we could just rookie a workmanlike KPP for 2012 (backup)... nothing fancy... we could bloody kill the Fev thread in a second!

A good workmanlike KPP defender/forward as a rookie would be a definite plus for next year when our window opens. Also getting one who is right in the age group as the rest of the side would be a definite bonus going forward.

And honestly, I dont think that Fev really is the answer. Too old now and starting to get injuries. He turned it on once at Casey this year and thats just not enough.
 
Not sure if he has been mentioned yet, but does anyone know anything about Lewis Johnston's situation ??? He was a reasonably well regarded forward in the 2008 draft, but has yet to make an impact as yet despite Sydney having a relatively weak forward line. He is listed at 191-193 cm, so is a decent size, and is said to be good in the air and at ground level.


Is there any reason he hasn't had a real sniff in at Syndey (played 2 games this year)? Is he worth a look at in a trade?

Reading the Sydney board it seems he may have an attitude problem.
 
What are people's thoughts on Phil Davis from the crows?
I know there's a lot of talk about Talia, but I'd much prefer we go after Davis as a CHB. Wouldn't come cheap, but I'd be willing to give up our 1st rounder for him. Not sure if he'd be all that keen on a trip to Vic as he's an SA boy, but certainly worth a shot.

Apparently linked to GWS, but if T. Walker has already signed with them Davis will be a bit more of a challenge.

Who was the other dude Wayne Brittain got over from Adelaide that played down back a bit??... name escapes me at this point in time.

I would though take Davis without question.

I threw his name up a season or 2 back but the so called experts on here didn't agree as I did with Petrie... I bet these so called experts would love either one in our team now!!

Surely no other team can have better options then us!!:rolleyes:

Too late now for Q stick I think now, although is the type we need!

Davis is an interesting one, esp as it may have an impact on Walker. O wonder if we could try and scalp Walker if Davis is the player signed by the GWS. Walker at FF and Henderson at CHF, with Walker and Waite, Betts and Garlett filling in the flanks and pockets. Make it happen :D:thumbsu:
