Game went from 8-10pm Sydney/Brisbane time, with the usual pre-game talkfest preceding it. Adelaide got the game on delay.

For those that care, the Eurovision final is on SBS right now - it's at it's tragic 'best'

I think it's being hosted by a really bad Scary Spice and Nick Riewoldt impersonators

Armenia's 'Apricot Song' was bizarre, and Germany seems to be a rip off of Beyonce's 'All The Single Ladies'

It was terrible, but so far they've scored 25 points - outscoring superior entries from Iceland, Moldova, Norway, and Ireland

and Ukraine gave Russia 10 points!

It's quite comical watching the most blatant bloc voting/stacking. All the former USSR satellite states vote for Russia. All the Balkan states vote for each other. The Scandinavian countries all vote for each other. Weirdly, the best song usually does manage to win - somehow.

Big win but not as big as last years.

Back to back footy and basketball games yesterday and I'm walking like I crapped myself.

It's quite comical watching the most blatant bloc voting/stacking. All the former USSR satellite states vote for Russia. All the Balkan states vote for each other. The Scandinavian countries all vote for each other. Weirdly, the best song usually does manage to win - somehow.

That's the only reason why Russia scored 90 (actually the former eastern bloc probably accounted for the bulk of the Russian score). As you said yourself, their song was just dreadful.

I actually thought the German's were the worst (sounded too Beyonce for me). Very surprised the Irish scored so low, considering their song was actually very good.

I also liked the Albanian song as well, though it wasn't nearly as popular with the European voters.

I didn't much care for the Ireland & Iceland acts that people rave about. That said, I thought that Iceland should have won it last year (though Norway's "Fairytale" was a close 2nd in my opinion).

I fail to see the appeal of the French song at all. The Greek one was a little too folksy for my liking, but that's just me.

Belarus got what they deserved for sending the equivalent of their Idle Australians top 5 to the contest - even if they did have the best costumes of the night.

Had to laugh at Jimmy Jump. He actually fitted in quite well with the choreography, until he saw the security guards coming and bolted.

Apparently he's Spain's answer to our own serial pest, Peter Hore - the idiot who infamously ran onto the racetrack at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup (while the race was in progress) and onto centre court at the Australian Open (also while a match was in progress).
