Did they then change the name to Toy World?

I remember a toy shop being their, but never as Toy Town.

Wasn't Toy World the on on Anzac Highway where the light shop is now?

By the way, how does a commercial from an 80's toy shop end up YouTube? Who bothers to upload that kind of stuff?

eventually yes, but i always remember it as toytown

Only rumour at this stage, but apparently someone committed suicide on the train line around the Warradale/Oaklands stations.:( I just had to get off at Oaklands on my usual train home (way before my stop), due to a 'severe problem on the line'. Usually you would here if it was a break down, but this was definitely not that. Tragic news if true.

Imagine being the driver seeing the person jump into the path of your train :(
Also it will pretty much stay a rumour unless you know someone who attended or works for the company because they will never report a suicide in the media.
Not good though :(

Yeah, on the radio all they are saying is that it is a 'police incident' on the Noarlunga line between Warradale and Oaklands. Someone posted this on my status on fb as soon as I put it up, and I highly doubt they would if they hadn't of heard from a good source. Not good at all.:(

Very selfish method of commiting suicide, IMO.
I agree. Would be horrible for the train drivers and even the passengers on board, it is something that will scar them for life too. I'm pretty sure it was the train before mine that hit the person too, which is the train I was hopeful of catching but got held up, so I'm pretty thankful right now!

I remember the one on Main North Road Parafield.

And that ad.

It is now a storage facility.

On the topic of toy stores, I went into Toys R Us today to check it out one last time before it becomes a Kmart while I'm overseas.... Very disappointed! Looked an absolute mess, rubbish and whatnot everywhere and was a lot smaller than I remembered (but that always happens with places from your childhood).

Also something I remembered! The old Myer toy department with the glass window with a display of like a train set or lego or something like that behind it! Anyone got photos, would be sick to see it again! And the old John Martins toy department you had to go down a ramp to get to!

Suicide is generally selfish

You may be right, but there's ways to do it that don't unfairly impact other people. I have actually witnessed a guy killing himself by throwing himself in front of a car on Anzac Highway. To see it happen, and to also see the poor young guy who was behind the wheel of the car after the incident, throwing up and crying his eyes out - I wouldn't wish that experience upon anyone. I would much rather someone just took an overdose, hang themselves, whatever - at least they are doing it to themselves and not using another person as a means of suicide.

They also usually leave a mess behind that the family has to clean up, be that debts or what ever.

Like air traffic controllers they get a ton of mental stress in their jobs, which usually result in counselling. Both industries won't get mental cover for IP or TPD insurance, which is a good indication of the likelyness of head ****s in those professions.

...my dad's an ATC!

Very stressful job. Very expensive insurance premiums IF they can get acceptance. On the plus side they usually get a nice pay packet and good benefits post work.

Most mentally stressful jobs have good benefits.

Yeah definitely. He's been doing it for like 30 years now. Seems like something I'd be interested in doing but you have to move to Melbourne to do the course for 2 years then they send you to a random place around Australia. If I could do it here I would be doing the course now. Plus shift work, not too sure about that. I'd get used to it but just things like not knowing that every weekend you will be able to go to the footy and whatever would get annoying.

My last day at UniSA (Mawson Lakes) today. End of an era for me, I've been there (as a student and then an employee) for over a decade now. I'll miss that crazy-ass hole of a campus :)

Ever since o-week when I turned up to the campus, having heard stories of vibrant rock bands at other unis, to find a three-man group containing a banjo, a trombone and a bongo drum, it's been one backwards experience after another, hahahaha. Love the place though.
