Was good to hear Ratts on SEN this morning,he basically said Walker will play against the Dogs.

Spoke a little about Gibbs's development saying he's added a lot of run into his game, which has been caus for a lot of improvement.

Was asked where Carlos was at,Ratts said that he was put back to the Ants as he's had some calf troubles, and has further done his calf and when he recovers expects him to come back into the Blues.

Also spoke about Hartts and Austin saying he was hopefull one of them could step up soon and become a KPP,and was asked where they should be playing Waite and said he sounded like he was still unsure on where to play Waite.

Most important thing from the interview for mine was the statement that Jarrad Waite's future position will be determind by who succeeds out of Austin and Hartlett. That's a pretty big carrott right there, basically saying to Hartlett, and to a lesser extent Austin, this is your one big shot nailing down a career.

More so for Harts.

Austin is young and developing nicely in his second year.

Harts has been around for some time (4 years?) and needs to start producing.:thumbsu:

This is Harts 4th season, as he was taken in the '04 draft after JR. Injuries have really hindered his progress big time, and he needs to be making every effort to get his body right. We can forget about finals for 2008, and further development for guys like Austin and Hartlett is a must. Both have played some very good footy for the Ants, so i'm hoping they can show something at AFL level.

I read somewhere we're DIESEL and BRADDLES had spoken to Gibba, telling him you could work harder at training and run harder in a game. Bryce, like the leader he is, took the advice on board, he works his ring off now both at training and now on gameday. A full credit to Bryce for taking this advice on board and pat on the back for our past champs.

I think this is a good motivation tool for Hartts an Austin as I've heard both have had issues with there work ethic in regards to training!

Think Hartlett's biggest issue is with his attitude. Even this early seems to have aspects of Fev's attitude. Worries about what his opponents are up to more than just focassing on the ball. Would think that his ability is not being maximised and that whilst a good run with injury would help that he would benefit from getting his head right.

If this is true, then that is disappointing to here, especially in regards to Austin. Think we already knew that Hartlett had some issues to work through, particularly with his aggression on the field.

I had heard last year Aussie was a bit lazy at training, was probably posted here, but haven't heard much since, and his form and development have clearly pleased the coaching staff.

Harts would be frustrating the coaches for many reasons.........ability matched with inability to stay on the park for one.:thumbsu:

If Austin can't get motivated by seeing his best mate killing it in the seniors, theres no hope for him.

Having said that, any suggestion that he has an attitude problem is just scuttlebutt and his performances for the Ants should be all we're worried about.

To best honest i think both have the potential to succeed.

If both came along then it'd be a bonus.

Hartlett, Waite, Fisher, Fevola up forward with Eddie and Hoops roving, and another small marking forward to replace Lappin (i.e a Williams or Ebert type) and we'll be much stronger.

BB, I'm now having issues with your latest sig. I laugh every time I read it. Not sure if it's what he said or how he tried to say it. Free education for all, I say.

Regardless of my views on Fisher, in all honesty, if Austin and Hartlett both cement a spot then Fisher isn't going to be a first team guy.

Anyone think that the success that Hartlett's younger brother is having might spur him into gear.....I bloody well hope so!!!

Not a bad point there actually.
Hamish has been killing 'em all year, and perhaps Adam can take some inspiration from his younger brother.

Hamish is an absolute gun!

So hoping we draft him.

I watched Hamish with interest last saturday (playing for West Adelaide against Sturt). He demonstrated skill but was pretty ordinary. Now don't all cut me down coz i'm not saying that he's crap - just that in the ONE GAME i have seen he did not stand out.

I also know one of the senior administrators at Westies personally, and caught up with him at the game. He told me they've been getting into Hamish about being lazy.

good to hear. proves that ratts does obviously believe setanta is a decent player. also i heard that he praised setantas performances earlier in the year on pavlich and trav cloke.

Like many others, i think you are only taking into account his performances after his broken finger earlier in the year.

His efforts last year were fantastic.

He will be a part of our future squad and with a solid pre season im sure his kicking woes will be behind him.

This isn't aimed at you, but bagging he's getting at the moment reminds me of the crap Eddie Betts was copping last year, it isn't funny. :thumbsd:

I have also heard that Fisher requires knee surgery which would explain alot.

I understand what you're saying but the Eddie Betts/Jordan Russell scenario doesn't apply here. Eddie was in his second year and Jordan is in his third.

After 6 years of Fisher, I think we've seen enough to make a judgement.
