This weeks Raw starts off with...

Vince coming out and blaming the invasion on Bret, saying he didn't make the right call on one of the 'tough decisions' and didn't hire extra security for the PPV. He then fires Bret and announces a new GM who would like to remain anonymous. This GM's decisions will be emailed to Cole to announce at ringside. His first announcement is that the NXT rookies have all been signed. They will address the crowd later

I do like the NXT angle, but the TV PG rating does make things limited as to how crazy things can go. It's certainly made things interesting, but its now a case of how long this can go. WWE seems to bring out a gem-angle every now and then during the PG Era, only for it to last only a couple of weeks.

Props to Vince for taking the bumps he did... he's older than Flair, and even Flair wouldn't have put his body on the line the way Vince did on Monday Night. He's still the only McMahon worthy of TV time.

.

He took a massive beating

I dont think many blokes could handle that at his age

Not just for this episode of Raw, but his in-ring career in general, Vince doesn't get the respect he deserves. Considering his first match came in 1998 at age 53, he's taken bigger bumps and bled more than a fair number of full-time wrestlers have throughout their career. He's by no means a technical wizard, but you know you're always going to get 150% effort from Vince in the ring.

Did anyone see the you tube video of "When Raw went off the air"... Interesting follow up, just interested to see how far the "invasion" angle is pushed....

Vince could inject the WWE with a lethal dose of poison again.... or just a fat Scott Hall with an nWo T-Shirt.

I just had a look, and just seemed like a repeat of the "defending their turf" that the Raw superstars did mid-episode last week, except more obviously led by Randy Orton.

That's just what they do to let the crowd leave on a good note. Faces always come back to beat up on the heels.

However I do think there will be some sort of invasion type storyline going with them aligned with the new gm, which I believe to be Michael Cole.

Cole was pretty good in his heel role on NXT. He probably can get enough heat as the leader of NXT. I doubt they'd explain why he's doing it properly from a writing perspective, though.

Firstly, why would/should Vince hire him as General Manager?

Secondly, why would/should Cole help the NXT? Unless it turns out that Cole wants to be more than announcer, and wants to take over WWE with the help of the NXT guys (for whatever reason), I can't think of much else.

But perhaps it's just the fact that Cole wasn't present during the initial beatdown of Cena that's swaying people in this direction. I just thought that was because they needed him to announce NXT the next night, and it wouldn't make much sense to have him come out and not sell much. But then again, nobody (Cena included) sold the beating much at all (surprise, surprise).

It could be Cole. But I doubt they know who it is at the moment, anyway. If so, they would just reveal the GM now instead of doing this whole "anonymous GM" bullshit.

To be honest, I don't think Cole is the ringleader. Apart from the fact that he didn't get caught up in the initial beatdown (which can easily be explained by him simply being soft and running scared, which is somewhat consistent with his on-screen character), IMO there's nothing at all to indicate that he'd be behind it, and it'd be a bit of a pointless letdown if he was, because he's got no logical reason to be. He might have been treated poorly by WWE management in the past (see his "He's spoken two words to me in 13 years comment" on Vince during the Fatal 4 Way PPV), but (as an on-screen character) he's still safe and secure in his job.

Now if we're talking announcers/ex-non-wrestlers who (on-screen) got shafted and/or have a genuine gripe with WWE management (self-inflicted or otherwise), then the name Mike Adamle springs to mind... ;)
