They're sensational!
Shit! You get all that, just for wandering around the ground like Dean Towers does?:)
Haha, yeah, he has to pass the time somehow. Ive probably dropped $7000 on Swans afl cards over the years. I own just about every Goodes card ever made.

Now that is a passionate Swan supporter!

Don't suppose you have one of Tippett?
It's value would be increasing as we speak!;)

You had the odd comment about the umpires, but overall it was nothing. Sydney were far too good tonight, just like the dogs were in the GF. Umpires dont mean shit.
Did Bev forget to pay up this week? You guys look pretty ordinary without the umps assist.

Think its pretty crazy he says Umpires mean shit they can and do influence games in round 2 they got 32 frees compared to 11 last night.

You are telling me around the ground that would not equal at least 3-4 goals in a close game?

This sport is stuffed personally its the worst umpired sport in the world.

Last night was a really strong team performance and we well and truly outplayed the Dogs.

POSITIVES (This list isn't exhaustive as there were a lot of them):

- Sinclair continues to be underrated on this board. Played a very good game and was influential early on with a number of bone crunching tackles. Really set the tone for the match.

- The shutdown of Johannisen was obviously influential, but most in the media haven't given enough credit to the team's shutdown of Bontompelli, instead just writing it off as him being in a form slump. He rarely had any time or space last night and his struggle to have any impact went a long way to us getting the 4 points.

- Rampe is starting to get his touch back. He dropped quite a few marks when he first came back, but seemed much more solid against the Dogs.

- Keiren Jack will be better for that run, but I thought he did a lot of good support play even if he wasn't particularly influential. I'm guessing he'll spend more and more time forward of the ball this season.

NEGATIVES:

- Once again we failed to capitalise on our dominance by hitting the scoreboard. We should've been 40 points up at halftime, but too many scoring opportunities were missed. We've seen that pattern in all of our losses so far this season and if we want to reach finals in 2017, we can't rely on having the vast majority of moment like we did last night. Most other teams will have their chance to pile on goals, so we need to make more of our own time in the sun.

- Related to that, someone needs to sort out Sam Reid's kicking for goal. Played a blinder and seemed to mark everything that came near him, but I feel less confident with him lining up in front of goal than I would my grandmother. Or Ricky Mott.

- I'm still not convinced on Marsh and Newman. Neither of them played poorly, but there were a few times each of them got caught up trying to do too much or didn't take the first option and got bogged down. I'd say a big part of it is adjusting to the step-up in speed and skill level from NEAFL, but still a bit of a concern.

Bring on the Tigers!!!

It's not just goals - it's momentum. When the umpiring goes weird it's very hard to fight against.

Personally, I don't think any team should be able to consistently dominate the frees. There are too many subjective rules.

I feel like the umpiring was still actually pretty poor, particularly early on in the game. Some absolute howlers still. Lots and lots of "non-calls" IMO too.

Just because it was way less shit than the previous handful of games doesn't mean it wasn't still shit.

The umpiring was atrocious really. Horrible calls early in the first half. Ones which come to mind, Newman's deliberate out of bounds but similar incidents never got the same call later. Hewett marking the ball but it getting called play on despite interference.

Then in the final quarter the umps just decided to give us ever free. Seemed like a clear directive to "balance out" the differential between Doggies & Swans matches. Honestly reeked of a corrupt umpiring department IMO. They've already determined who will get favourable treatment before the first bounce

Don't be silly and get all conspiratorial on us. The umpires aren't out to get us or any other team. The AFL doesn't instruct them to go easier/harder on any team. The most you could claim (but it would be a real stretch) is that they target certain rules and that might potentially favour one team due to the way they play.

Yes, it still hurts that the Bulldogs got some contentious free kicks in the Grand Final and it certainly had an impact on momentum, but we've gotta let that one go. They actually played better football for longer and deserved the win, regardless of the umpiring.

Last night there were definitely some incorrect calls, as there will be every game. But for the most part they gave a bit of leniency due to the ball being so slippery. I would've paid Hewett the mark, but equally I wouldn't have paid Buddy's mark up the other end.

Their throwing is ridiculous. I know the game is quick and the in close gives can be hard to catch but FFS !!!! If i can see them from 1000km away through the blurry screen of a 1970 Rank Arena then surely those AFL appointed handicappers can ! Blatant cheating and they are actually becoming a blight on the game. The Bulldogs that is. The umpires have been a blight on the game since incompetence in the workplace become acceptable.

Not convinced by Newman?? He has made a huge difference to our accuracy out of defence, breaks and evades tackles and is a rebounding defender. O sorry that's not wanted in the Sydney defence
