That oldfaithful location in freo is cursed, nothing lasts long there
The basement of the building next door to it (Cnr of Philimore and Packenham) used to flood something chronic each and every winter. Surprised that the Old Faithful location wouldn't suffer the same, given it's essentially a basement as well.

And within skipping distance of the train station and the park over the road. It's not a great location.

Was listening to 6PR during the week before the footy Friday night and they were talking about Bernie's - was a burger joint on Mounts Bay Rd where The Mount hospital is now. I remember my dad taking me there when I was very young. I wouldn't be surprised if that's where Keys and his mates would go to to in leather jackets and combs in their pockets to pick up chicks.
Bernies opened around 1940, selling 'finger foods' like crayfish rolls. American servicemen introduced the hamburger and it took off from there, closed in the 90's.
Was a popular place for post pub-rock gigs in the 70's eg -Steves. Other places were Hamburger Hill, on a hill near the overpass at the Casino - and Alfred's Kitchen in Midland, famous for its pea+ham soup, hamburgers and an open wood fire out front.
Charlie Brown's Pizza was popular back then and later Fast Eddys.
(oops, didn't see the post on Bernies back there!?)

Whats there now? I like that place cause it’s tucked away but understand why places fail there

Something called “Babu’s Dream Cafe”, serves Pakistani food. I think this one might finally make it.

Showing my age but yeah the one around the corner from jeremiahs/gobbles and rumours got a lot a traffic late at night
Fast eddies chicken burger was the best late night feed after a heavy drinking session.. unfortunately a lot of the time I took it home with me and passed out in the couch having taken one bite out of it.

I remember Hamburger Hill, think the old man took me there too.

Alfred's Kitchen was barely okay - I think the late, outdoor fire vibe was the attraction. Went there just a few years back and you can notice the lack of quality in their burgers compared to what you get now.

What was the one in Freo - was it Captain Munchies? "On your bike tummy rumbles." Or something similar.

Was my ( our ) standard go to place on route home after a big night on the piss either at the Perth City Pubs or the Nightclubs, awesome food and a place where you could get your burgers in either a bun or toast.

Standard order for me was two cheeseburgers with onion and some coke ( back when coke was a drink ).

Then the experience was rounder out with a Marlborough Red durry or two or on a better night a loose joint and then ......... a massively loud belch, or an occasional spew.

Was always a busy place and service went through to about 5:00 am

And of course Bernie himself.
Bernard Hardwick who started it all, selling burgers out of caravans on Mounts Bay Road..

Whats happened/happening to the fast eddie’s building in the city? Is it still rotting like the Freo HJ’s?

Pretty much, yep. It sits maintained in completely pristine and untouched state from the day it closed up

Was sent this and might as well post it here as we are going down memory lane. Pretty sure one of fast eddy’s or hoggs breath used to feature in the guide.

Got out of hospital today

Still chasing some answers as to what’s wrong but the worst option (myeloma) is all but ruled out so that’s good news

Not totally out of the woods as I probably will have to manage iron deficient anemia for the foreseeable future and possibly beyond

Feeling better than a week ago though

I didn't know you were in the big building, good to hear you're out Keysie.

What was the place directly opposite Old Melbourne Hotel, wasn't that a Fast Eddies too? (maybe after the other one closed?) Was a really popular late night burger joint, after gigs and clubs at the Hotel.
