It hasn't been a disaster, but in the current run it hasn't been very successful. Scharenberg has been ravaged by injury and will have played just four games by 2017, and Freeman played 0 games due to injury before running to St Kilda, converting a Pick 10 into half of the trade required to secure James Aish two years later. We managed to take Langdon and Marsh late, two steals, so that evens out some of the pan. As much as I like Shaz and have belief he will be a champion once fully fit, he will have only played four times in three seasons, and if injury strikes one more time, that might be it.

Pick 6: James Aish would be the obvious choice however he ended up at Collingwood anyway. Rewind, and I'd have gone Christian Salem, especially after the departure of Heath Shaw and Maxwell in the long run. He's played 22 games at Melbourne, due to injury troubles as well, but has shown he will be a great player.

Pick 10: Many different options but in the long run due to the midfielders we recruited, I'd have gone Cam McCarthy, especially after his 2015 season. He's played 21 games in his career and kicked 36 goals, but looks like he'll be a quality key forward for whatever team he'll play for. Would be a great forward partner to Darcy Moore, and I believe Collingwood would have taken him had Darcy Moore not been a F/S selection the next year. Patrick Cripps is also up there, but I don't believe he would have been able to succeed like he did at Carlton in such a squeezy midfield. Ben Lennon would also have been a decent attacking option as well.

Again really, who cares....

McCarthy at 10 would have been an inspired choice. Looks a carbon copy of Barry Hall at the same stage in the way he plays.

But would he still wanted to go Home?

At this point I have pretty high hopes Langdon, Marsh and Aish can be good long term players for us. I would have rated those 3 above Scharenberg and Freeman coming into 2016 even before Shaz did his knee again. Freeman leaving gave us some help getting Aish and Scharenberg might be a player yet.

It has the potential to be a good draft year.

Langdon? Really? He had a good first season but it's hard to see what kind of a player he's still going to become after looking like he was running with concrete boots on for most of 2015.
McCarthy should've been top 10. Absolute jet.

I'd say less likely than wanting to escape Western Sydney
How much of it is homesickness and how much of it is the giant pile of money that Freo is throwing at him?

Depends whether or not Freo can snag Hogan I think.

If he would have stayed I would have thought McCarthy and Cripps would be the obvious choices on exposed form.

However I don't care since we got Aish!

Again really, who cares....

If you don't care then wouldn't the logical course of action be not to enter the thread?

No one cares that you don't care.

Assuming we don't know Scharenberg will get injured

Pick 6: Scharenberg

Pick 10: McCarthy

hard to get better than Langdon/Marsh late in the draft

Still managed to finish 6th in the B&F. I think rating him above Scharenberg and Freeman is a fair assessment.

Using hindsight as my guide,

6. Aish
10. Cripps

McCarthy would be great for us but I'm assuming he would leave for Freo anyway. Given how adamant he is about going west I think we would be fighting an uphill battle to keep him whereas Cripps would stay put.

Back in the real world I'll back our boy Shaz to make it as long as he and the club think his body can do it.
