They might not do a straight swap, but they either club could be willing to do a swap of first rounders. I really hope we make a stand with the next top player that wants to leave and even send him to the draft if we cant get the deal we deserve. If Carlton/North wont do that swap they will have to spend their first on picking him up anyway. At least they will get our first. The first option is win-win, the second is lose-lose. I am ok with either.

Otherwise, I would take Gibbs and Carltons 2nd, which is going to be almost a first rounder anyway. Lever is far more valuable than Gibbs who will be 29 by next season.

Surely we've moved on from Gibbs? Even if we get knocked out in the finals by having our midfield dominated I'd be happy with not going down that path again.

I am sure he knows. But he will buy a nice house which will be where he wants to live long term anyway. I still believe he would stay with us even for slightly less money than others. But if the difference is too much he is gone. I am ok with that too because we have to keep our heads here.

I feel like I am the only one left that still has confidence he will stay. I think it would turn anybody's head, including everybody who is posting on this board, the offers he is getting. But I also think that the imminent chance of multiple premierships is also going to be decisive. I don't think going to Collingwood would be attractive to him right now, compared to staying with the Crows and the belief he must have that he can win not just 1, but 2 or 3 flags here. But ultimately if the difference in offers is too much he will go and really I can understand that. Depends on how much he wants a premiership over his career vs the duty he has to his family to set them up for life over the course of a very short career. Its almost selfish to stay and win premierships if its costing your family a million bucks.
I still reckon he's staying. Haven't changed my mind at all.

I had moved on from Gibbs until Sloane started getting tagged out of games. Same thing will happen next year. Gibbs is pretty like for like and teams couldn't tag both. We need to make hay will the sun shines on Sloane, Eddie, Tex and JJ. I think we can do with out a couple of prospects to really consolidate that midfield. He was supposedly coming on $600k for 5 years last year. If he will do $600k for 4 years now, then its pretty good value for money with the new CBA.

I think your read on the situation is totally wrong just as it was with Dangerfield.

Dangerfield didn't leave for the coin
Gunston didn't leave for the coin
Tippett didn't leave for the coin

And though Bock and Davis did leave for the coin it was at a time when none of the AFL clubs could realistically match that of the expansion teams

And I'll go so far as to say Lever is not leaving solely for the money, my read it there is a whole lot of family involvement in his FINAL decision which IMO he's already made...

I'd bet gunner was offerred $250k with us and $450k at Hawthorn. I'd be surprised if danger isn't on $1.2m. But Geelong don't pay that kind of money because they said so. Sure.

I'll bet that entire conversation was orchestrated to either directly or indirectly steer the club in one direction. Hence the leading questions from Rowie .

I wanna stay but need more $$$.
The motives are up for debate but that interview seemed 100% orchestrated...especially Bicks final question re waiting till after finals.

He is clearly going.

I don't know about him, but if it was me I would want to sort my shit out and know what I'm doing.

"Waiting on the CBA"
"Managers away"
"Managers back haven't organised a time to meet him"

Bullshit, if you want to stay and resolve it, you would tell your manager to get off his arse and have it sorted.

And if that's the case he can **** off. You don't turn your back on the club 3 years after stating you want to be a ten year player.

And the club needs to get smart about this, stop drafting young Victorians who have girlfriends. It's highly likely the girl will want to go home before the player, they don't have the daily ties or bond the players do.
Waiting for Santa.

We need to reconsider the drafting of players with serious girlfriends already in Victoria. ...

How do we find players without girlfriends? These are taller than average, generally attractive (I assume), superb specimens of young men who would have correspondingly attractive young women throwing themselves at them. Hens' teeth, I tells ya.

I have been interviewed on radio; as a general rule you are given a copy of the questions before you even get to the studio. (this was a few years ago, but I would be surprised if was done any differently now)

I don't need an internet forum to make me feel special, only a mirror.

What I want is some supporter groundswell that makes the club come out and say "we acknowledge that this is an issue and we are doing all that we can to fix the underlying issue". Like any supporter I'm sick of the cliches. Recognise there's an issue and work to fix it.

This is a footy forum no?

Ignore the idiots and bottom feeders.

Need more Cameron lings

What you've got to understand guys, is that while you might come on here and feel like you're talking to other "cluey" people, you're actually coming to a small community of 150 or so supporters who are viewed externally as a collection of social outcasts and weirdos. Weirdos who have come here and thought about things for so long, and listened to each other for so long, you feel like you must have an extraordinary, unfiltered insight that no average punter can see. But actually, you're viewed as a bit of a fruitcake and part of a toxic, sad, cliquey little community with nothing in their lives.

NO ONE is coming here to give you guys information. The odd person who stumbles upon something one time or has a mate who runs drinks at channel seven and so sees the team sheet 40 minutes on the Thursday, maybe. But that is literally it.

You're just kidding yourselves so much if you think anyone is coming here. And I don't say this to be a dick, it's just the fact of it.
I call bullshit, your bullshit.

Apart from the posters who regularly post here, how well known is the Adelaide Board? Who are these people that have formed this external opinion? The media? Who gives a shit, they don't like this Board because of some of its critical opinions.

Or are those external people you refer to your circle of friends? If that's the case, based on your oddity, I can see why they would think that.

But on to the validity of what people post on here, there are clearly posters on here that know things, to suggest otherwise would be naive. I've had a few PMs from posters on here and their information has been accurate. Some of them have chosen to post the info on this board as well.

TAFKATMS has posted stuff on here prior to the event, he's shown to have connections.

Perhaps stop being a dick and using the opportunity to have a crack at those who post on here, especially when you're speaking shit.

That's just bullshit if you cast back to what was reported widely at the time, Gunston and his management had agreed to terms on the eve of our Presentation night only for him to up and do a runner.

What happened?

Other clubs threw big offers at him and his mrs and his family have told him, take it and go home.

I personally think Lever would like to stay as he must be enjoying his football here.
If that's the case then stand your ground man, YOU are the one earning the money.

You think that if that was true then the Hawks stole him from right under our noses by paying the same? Don't be stupid.
