meh, we can beat adelaide... but after that i really don't think we have the firepower to go any further! oh well, we can only hope

I am treating this finals campaign as another learning curb for the boys. Realistically I think we are a 50/50 shot this week. If we win I like our chances against St Kilda if we get Burns and Thomas back. From there I am not optimisitic. That said if we were lucky enough to somehow get the Bulldogs at the G I would put us at 50/50 again.

A lot of our finals campaign will depend on the fitness of Burns and Thomas and also whether one of Ried, Rocca or Rusling can push for selection if we do make it to the dogs/hawks game and beyond. I think having a foward who is more then just a decent foil would be handy. Whether it be Reid leading hard up on the wing or Rocca sitting in the goal square it would be an upgrade and give Cloke better direction and more freedom.

I'm calling a major upset, a-la last year:-

I think we'll lift for this finals series, and we're a great chance to beat Adelaide and St. Kilda, although both games will be tough with such a young team in. Can't see us getting past Hawthorn in the prelim though, assuming they beat the Bulldogs.

But if the Bulldogs get up this week.. well who knows, maybe just maybe we can sneak into the grand final and give the cats a scare...

If we beat adelaide this week and play the saints next week which is likely i think we'll get through to the prelim. If we play Hawthorn we're out, if we play the Dogs i think we have a 50/50 chance of playing in the GF against Geelong.

I'm not sure we will get past the crows . I mean, with injuries and all, I think we could struggle.

If we do get past this week, we are a better chance the following week against saints.

If we had Didak in, we could have made it to the GF, and from there who knows?

After all, we are the only team to HAMMER the cats in the last two years!

This could have been our year if things had of gone a bit different!

Thats sad actually cause when its your turn and you don't take it there is every chance you don't always get another.

On this years finals I think we can go pretty far, I'm happy with our draw. Playing Adelaide is winnable although they are deserving favourites, but we travel well and beat them earlier and Porps isn't playing. Assuming Geelong win we can beat St. Kilda, we have beaten them twice this season and if we play them it will be at the MCG so St.Kilda are already disadvantaged as they play well at the Dome. Then hopefully the dogs beat Hawthorn as we have a better chance against them then Hawthorn and plus their form has been down the last bit of the season. Then Geelong who we have shown we are capable of beating.
Optimistic I know but this is finals time so no more negative stuff.

I think we will win if :
Medhurst kicks 3
Cloke kicks 4-5
Anthony kicks 4-5
with Chris Dawes, Davis, Thomas, Pendles, Swan and McCarthy kicking 1-2 each

yeah, thats my game plan:)

This is my theory.....

Geelong vs St. Kilda = Geelong
Hawthorn vs Western = Hawthorn
Sydney vs North = Sydney
Adelaide vs Collingwood = Collingwood

St. Kilda vs Collingwood = Collingwood
Western vs Sydney = Western

Geelong vs Western = Geelong
Hawthorn vs Collingwood = Hawthorn

I think if we account for adelaide and geelong hammer st. kilda...we can take the saints...won't beat the hawkss though!

If we lost against Adelaide it will really hurt but in retrospect I don't think we can really expect to much of the boys. Not to say that I don't have faith in them but we've had a tough year with a lot of injuries that have hurt us in the long run. That said here's to a great game tomorrow against the crows. GO PIES!!!:thumbsu:

Teams always hurt after they play us (especially the close ones). I think its because of the congested, contested ball type of game we play.

So being realistic, I think if you were to beat us today, it would be a real challenge just to beat St Kilda.

i just want to beat adelaide to get one more week of finals footy. i am going to miss it all so much. this year has gone too quick. i do think we can beat saints next week, but as most have said, we just cant beat hawthorn. buddy and roughnut are too strong up forward, and their midfield is far superior to ours. but hey playing in 2 prelims in a row would be great for our young developing list. 09 with a full squad + say ben cousins, haha might just be the year!

i so hope we win today and have a crack at the saints!! (or geelong... unlikely!)

I would be pretty pissed off if we lose today due to the fact that if the boys had their heads straight for a handful of winnable games which they lost, plus the added stupidity of geebungate meaning we have lost two of our best players for the year, we should have been right up there this season.

But to be realistic, what has happened has happened and today we will be fielding the youngest team in the finals by a long shot. I do think we are a good chance to win still but realistically this is not our year. Whatever happens it will be very good experience to the young guys and we can see how the guys like JA, J-Mac and Dawesome react to finals footy.

Go Pies

Doesn't your theory work both ways? If anything, I think after a hard tough game in the wet would take more out of a team than flying back from the West, plus there game in the West wan't played in the wet.

If there is any advantage at the moment, I would give it to Collingwood, plus Collingwood have a stronger forward line.

If Collingwood win the clearances and get the ball in the 50 more than the Crows then I think that Collingwood will win.

Coming in as underdogs they have to prove themselves that they can be a contender to be in the GF.

Considering the youth of our starting line-up today, If we managed one win this finals series I think it would be a good achievement.

For Collingwood fans in Melbourne, here in Adelaide today its a beautiful day. Already reached 20 degrees and not a cloud in the sky :thumbsu:

Go Crows! :p

Exactly what i was thinking. Medhurst and Anthony are crucial to our hopes. Hope medders plays deeper this week with Thomas back in the side.

It's a bit sick but I absolutely love finals...

Everything this year is now on the line. One game - we win we keep going. We lose - it is mad monday and a long pre-season looking at what went wrong.

The pressure is amazing... I'm so nervous it feels like I'm about to go out and play. The boys will be so bloody pumped up today and when we are playing that intense footy we are a bloody hard team to beat.

Heres hoping for a great game and let the best team win...

GO PIES

I think we will make the prelim.

We are good chance today and I think we'll win.

Next we will probably play the Sainters, who we have a good record against. Once again I think we'll win.

I know we are missing good players but i've just got a good feeling about these finals.

Hawthorn would be extrememly tough and I would be tipping our run ends there, but you never know...
