I still have that horse as well Kingy, supposed to be one of the best 3 in the game so no need to get a new one, I'm a bit worried about it dying though as then it is lost for ever isn't it?

I am still yet to visit a gun shop as well... has anyone bought anything decent from there or are you lads just finding weapons as you go?

I tried to find the treasure near hanging rock but no dice so far.

I've bought a couple of guns, The sawn off is gum, ever
since I got it Ive wanted to go around holding up places.

Dang I think I lost my horse, pretty sure this one isn't the right one. Ah well got plenty of money I think and my fame/honor is at reasonable level because i can get it for 750. Might be worth it. When you buy it, do you "body, come!" the horse or do you have to "get rid" of the other one first.

Nah you don't have to get rid of your current one. Just open your satchel, click on the deed and you're done. Next horse you call will be your horse of choice.

If it's just died it sometimes takes a little while to come

Played this for a few hours last night.

Single player was what I expected graphics and gameplay wise from Rockstar. Spent 2 hours on solo players before spending 30 mins in multi-player.

Got my butt kicked in a few MP shootout games... other players just seemed to 1-2 shot kill me whilst I was hitting them 4-5 times to get them down. Still learning the ropes here.

Anyone know if/how latency/lag effects MP games... are the games local games, how can I tell, and can I do anything about it? (sorry at work ATM and was too busy playing last night to read the manual).

PS - Everybody shoots at me when I go to thieves landing; I assume it's because I'm a good guy...
I went into thieves landing last night and didn't get shot at and I am a good guy too.

Just as a slight "stranger" spoiler regarding Thieves landing coming up:
I got a mission from a stranger and that was the first time I had gone there. Didn't get shot at and met the guy there. So maybe you have to get that stranger mission in order not to get shot at?
Stand at the base of the tree and walk towards the gap in the big boulders. Look through the little cleft between them and you'll see a pile of small rocks on the ground.

Walk around the back of the boulders, walk into the cleft, an option to "inspect" comes up on screen. Voila
It's such a misleading treasure map, isn't it?!

What would be helpful is if it told you the dashes actually meant that they were separate images. That's how you have to be looking at it, looking at the 2nd map is far easier to decipher (not that I've had a go of it yet as I can't find out the actual location, guessing it could be in Mexico which I haven't gone to yet).

Potentially it does. I've found myself getting into mostly Aussie rooms when I enter (granted I haven't played a competitive match yet). I can only find out that I'm in an Aussie room based on whoever's on mic and their accent.

What they might be doing however to kill you quicker is using the dead eye. It's a real easy way to knock someone over in what seems like only 2 shots. Click the dead eye on and roll it over your enemy then fire away and they'll be dead very fast.

The I and II sorta show that.

I started looking a bit further away from the tree than i should have, at some further off rocks, but it only took a min or so to twig

Place name is on the map.

I think the issue is that it's placed as that you're lead to believe that it's shown in one picture and that the small bunch of rocks is further away (which was where I was looking for a fair while until I thought it must be closer to the rock).
Place name is on the map.
Yeah, I know it's on the treasure map but my eyes can't find it on the actual map. I just haven't given it too much thought TBH, will probably find it if I actually have a bit of a look.

A few of the places you have to buy maps at the store to get all the locations if you haven't explored them yourself. Zooming in on the map reveals more detail in terms of place names as well

Just a quick question, just had a weird thought, does everybody name there horse?? just wondering

Furious D

Played like 5 hours last night and about 3 or so today, and I did like one main storyline mission, so good. Which rifle is the best I currently have Buffalo, Winchester repeater and repeater carbine.

I just caught an American Standardbred, which is a black horse, so I call it Ebony. :)

I'm so ****ing in love with this game at the moment. I've never been so addicted to/immersed in a game before, not even with legendary games like San Andreas or Metal Gear Solid 3 (both of which I hold close to my heart). During the first 4 days I clocked up 25 hours of gameplay. My life just totally went on hold for those four days, lol. But it was friggen' awesome. :D

I've only just unlocked West Elizabeth so I'm closing in on the ending but I'm not quite there yet. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the game ends. But I do have to say that the game has lost a bit of its western touch during the last few hours. Most of the Mexican missions didn't feel very "westerny" compared to the ones in New Austin. And of the two missions I've done in Blackwater they feel more GTA inspired than western inspired. But I'm not complaining. Blackwater is after all a eastern style town, so it's probably good that the missions have a different feel to them.

Multiplayer wise, I haven't played that much (been so addicted to the single player), but when I have played it it's been lag free. The controls are indeed a bit clunky for multiplayer. They're not very user friendly when it comes to making split-second decisions which are crucial in multiplayer games. And the auto-aim is pretty poor for multiplayer. It takes away the skill of aiming and even needing to find your targets. I managed to get 21 kills from camping in the same spot just holding LT and mashing RT whenever I saw someone. What saves this is the sniper rifle. It's so fun to use, mainly because it's so rewarding to kill someone on your own and whilst using such a poorly constructed primitive scope. The fish eye lens really makes it hard to use, but it also makes each kill more gratifying.

For all of its faults, the multiplayer is still good. It's fun enough to still be enjoyable, but the controls & aiming make it hard to take seriously. Best played with friends, or when you're just looking for a fun time. If you're looking for serious competitive multiplayer, go back to MW2.

I think there's expert modes where the auto aim is turned off tho isn't there?

I've tried online several times and I haven't played in one game, there seems to be no one online? I've only seen one dude in free roam and he left after 2 minutes :o

I just found out the hard way the consequences of what happens if you surrender to the local sheriff when there is a bounty on your head. :thumbsd:

I started punching on with one of the locals out the front of the saloon, and went on to beat him convincingly. However, 2 random bystanders feel they should take me on as well, so as I proceed to deal with one, the first bloke I knocked out gets back up and runs after me as I walk off. Wanting them to piss off, I whip out my gun and point it at them merely intending to scare them off, but one smartarse pulls out his pistol and takes a shot at me. So I shoot the guy in the face and the sheriff comes after me.

I then thought it'd be cool to see what happens when you surrender. Bad idea! A short cut scene begins and it shows me in a cell as numerous days and nights come and go. I'm then released, only to find my gold horse 'Blondie' has disappeared. Noooooo! :(

Was all good though, as I went into the local store and bought the paperwork to respawn the gold horse if I ever lose it again, so we were reunited once more. :D

Moral of the story: go down with guns blazing and don't surrender unless you want to lose your prized horsey. :(
