It absolutely seemed like that at the time around 2001. From what I remember is they were having a tough time but when Cameron Schwab got in there he really pushed the us v them mentality in the supporter base and it galvanised them. The only thing being is that it permeated through the whole club in that just winning/playing well in derbies got people re-signed during those years. Its how Mark Harvey got a senior gig its how Shaun McManus lasted as long as he did etc.
Its probably why battlers like mcmanus and Shane parker are lauded so greatly down the road.

Don't you just love the hypocrisy from Ed!

ED: "It's all speculation"
Can you elaborate
Ed "no"

On his own radio show as well.
They're really going to go hard at the boss.

Also love they way he speaks for Ned Guy.
Guy's obviously been ordered to keep his mouth shut.

Speaking on his Triple M Hot Breakfast program on Wednesday morning, McGuire said it was all “speculation” and refused to be drawn in on specifics around Treloar’s situation.

“Can I tell you this? No one will be speaking at Collingwood. (Pies list manager) Ned Guy has to speak at (Trade) Radio … won’t be saying much I wouldn’t have thought – and that’s as simple as that,” McGuire told Triple M’s Hot Breakfast.

“Because here’s what happens: We’re in the middle of a very robust negotiation with every club over players and things like that.

Al Paton
Collingwood list boss Ned Guy has just spoken on Trade Radio. Here are the live updates from Nick Smart.

ON ADAM TRELOAR
“We’re just working through that at the moment with Adam and his manager Tim," Guy said.
"I know there’s been some conjecture as to when we were going to talk about it, but there’s an agreement with Tim Hazell, his manager, that we weren’t going to play this one out and publicly air our negotiations and discussions through the media. We’re just working through that with him at the moment.”

Has Adam been asked to explore his future elsewhere?
“When personal circumstances and careers are being discussed, it’s not often appropriate to make those discussions public until everyone agrees that it’s the appropriate time to do so.”

Is it a salary discussion, a welfare discussion or both?
“We don’t make too many apologies for trying to get better. Our last game of this this year illustrated we do need to get better. We have an appetite to get back into this year’s draft, we rate it pretty highly and we have Derek Hine who’s a great talent ID. We have an appetite to get back in.”

On whether JAIDYN STEPHENSON is a required player with three years to run on in his deal
“A conversation with a player doesn’t necessarily equate to them leaving. We have all these conversations through exit interviews with players and I don’t think it necessarily means it’s going to happen with any player," Guy said.

Do you see him being at the club in 2021?
“I guess that remains to be seen. We have to get through trade period.”

MASON COX – does he have a contract for next year, and is he a required player?

"He is close to a trigger for 2021 and we're even in discussions potentially beyond 2021 as well with Mason, there's a bit to play out there."

Is the club open to having Cox move on?

"We catch up with every other club once the season is finished … we literally go through every single player on every single list so his name comes up but as i said we're in discussions with Mason beyond 2021 as well."

MESSAGE TO MAGPIE FANS

"I understand that people want a line of sight and to see where things are at but we do have a commitment to Adam (Treloar) and his manager Tim Hazell that we weren't going to do anything publicly. We'll be speaking up when there is something to say."

TBF shane parker was a pretty damn good defender.
I wasn't playing silly buggers, I literally didn't know who he was. I've googled him since then.

So Collingwood value getting into the draft beyond retaining Treloar? And that's on the back of their last final being a loss, so to rectify that they'll get rid of a premium mid and grab a teenager instead. Riiiiiiiiight.

Pretty happy with our deal for Hogan, means we've now finally cleaned out the main four contributors to the toxic culture (Hogan, McCarthy, Matera, Carter)

Given that trade was almost token - there must have been some pretty strained relationships in the club?

Yet the women don’t suffer from this ?

I think it came down to Hogan and his management agreeing with Bell and Longmuir it was in the club's best interest that he moved on, no matter how people wanna put it, having him there didn't do any favours to us removing the players contributing to the culture problems we had. Him getting kicked out of the Best and Fairest was the straw that broke the camel's back, and i feel this is probably best for both sides. Hogan gets a chance to truly start fresh, and we get rid of the last guy bringing culture down.

When did this happen? I must be under some sort of rock
Supposedly Bell was babysitting him throughout the night because he was pissed but got tired of it and told him to leave, Not 100% sure it's true but a lot of people have said it.

Yeah Hardie reported it on 6pr a few days after it happened, but just said something along the lines of “a player who’s playing for his future, was asked to leave the B & F of one of the WA sides” left it at that. Everyone knew he was talking about Hogan, but weirdly, that’s all I ever heard about it?? You’d think the media would’ve been all over it??

Why do people think hogan was the culture problem...? He only joined the club in 2019. The issues were already in full swing. I think Hogan was fine until he joined freo tbh.
