Surely the club wouldn’t be advertising flights to melbourne and referencing the game will be at the MCG if it wasn’t already confirmed to them by the AFL

View attachment 741716

There is no way WCE would put together packages if they didn't have confirmation that the game would be at MCG. Could you imagine paying 1350 to watch a game of football at GMHBA stadium (and having to travel to and from a hotel in Melbourne to do so?)

I guess the Cats could feel aggrieved seeing as the Giants are playing the Bulldogs at Giants Stadium, however that game would only field a crowd not much higher than 20 000 anyway, so there is no point in having a larger venue. Also, Giants Stadium is in the Sydney CBD, so doesn't present any extra travel considerations for the 'away' team.

If GMHBA seated 50 000 spectators maybe it would host would be more finals.

What are you talking about? The Giants home ground is nowhere near the CBD. It is at least 45 minutes probably an hour in traffic from the CBD and takes me 75 minutes from Sydney’s lower north shore.

The Giants are located way out in the western suburbs in Sydney and their home ground is based in the Olympic Stadium complex.

It is a nightmare to get to and park. It is almost the equivalent of driving to Mandurah from Perth.

If our club doesn't make a strong statement if the the venue gets changed we would be one of the most spineless sporting clubs in existence.

Time to flex some muscle. The days of being apologetic because of 2006 are over.

IF and I do mean IF the game is fixtured for Kardinya Park - I expect we wont see/hear much in the press and it will be all behind closed doors. Forceful not public.

Scott's whinging about Pies at the G as soon as fixtures were released was an error of judgement for me.

Looking forward to cats losing, us knocking them out next week and Tim Kelly jumping back on the plane with us after

If Richmond suffer a loss tonight they get an MCG game next week.

This in turn gives Geelong a stronger case to play Eagles at Geelong next week.

Beating them in Geelong on that long narrow ground is a lot harder than if you get them at the G with the wide open flanks and wings.

Doesn't sound like Chris Scott at all. Cameron kicks 5 goals "didn't have much of an impact". Grundy might have had a presence and we might second guess dropping our only recognised ruckman against Grundy the top 3 ruckmen in the AFL because it was going to rain. He is good for a howler is old mate Scott. Can you imagine if we had dropped NicNat for the Hawks and Dockers games because it was wet? In Simmo we trust.

Not quite Mandurah, lol, more like Cockburn. It's about 20km west of the CBD, but yeah nowhere near in the city. Public transport there is good though.

So? AFL would love two MCG blockbusters next weekend.

For 150 years of VFL/AFL, finals in Victoria have been played at the MCG or Waverley with some exceptions.

So even when Collingwood, Essendon, Carlton etc had a home Stadium they still played finals at the MCG.

Geelong have played 1 final in Kardinya in their entire history.

Why has this suddenly changed?

You won't be sent there it has already been stated that no finals will be played in Geelong this finals campaign.

The club is advertising and selling packages, it states we're playing Geelong at the MCG. Surely we'd have 'TBD' if we werent assured of an MCG game?

The difference is Geelong play games at the mcg as part of their home games each year anyway. I think the giants have played maybe 3 or 4 games at the scg in their entire history. Plonking them there for a final would be insane

This says that you get to watch the game in the Harrison room which is a function room at the MCG. Must've been confirmed with WCE by AFL before they went to all the trouble of organising the package.

LOL, imagine paying 1700 to watch the SF in a function room at MCG on the telly cos they move it to KP.

Rohan looked real sore too, he tore us up as well.

He pinged a hammy in the 4th chasing Moore. Amazed the commentary team paid it almost no attention. Total ball drop from them.

Just on how it looked I'd say there's no chance of him playing against us, but my medical opinion has no basis in actual medical training.

Appreciate the thought, but this is the AFL we're talking about here. All that needs to happen for us to get shunted to KP is for Jack Riewoldt to have a sook.

Cos - all finals that weekend were due to be held in Melb. From memory the other 3 were at the G and Gellong V Freo was at Kardinya Park so games could all be finished by Saturday night.

To Freo's credit they beat Geelong.

Have you considered applying at the Fremantle Football Club medical department?
