A Brisbane win tonight rules out a Collingwood vs Richmond Grand Final. That in itself is reward enough for the world, not having to hear the romanticised, over hyped, world changing coverage of how pure and right and great for the sport that matchup would be. [emoji2961]
Great call

Not sure why everyone is going for Brisbane, would much rather face Richmond at the G than Brissie in Brissie, even if we somehow got over the line we'd be cooked the following week.

Because Richmond can go EABOD

Point taken but id rather be the ones to knock them out personally, we owe them.

I think we’re a much better chance at beating them, given who we have in since we last met. Richmond at the G there’s razor thin margins of error.

Eagles are 6-1 in the game following a trip to the Gabba, going back to 2012.

Despite being the higher seed I reckon the AFL would give Brisbane the Saturday day prelim so IF we win next week we'd get another eight day break.

Agreed. No chance a Richmond/Collingwood prelim isn’t the Friday game, right?

Fair enough, personally I see is getting rolled hard at the GABBA by a rested Brisbane.

Should Brisbane win against Richmond tonight, GWS have a game that can do the Tigers some serious damage.

Earlier this year GWS played Richmond at the MCG and won in clearances (+8), inside 50s (+1) and contested possessions (+25), only losing because they were terribly wasteful in front of goal, particularly in the final quarter.

Considering Coniglio went down injured in the first five minutes and De Boer was not available to put the brakes on Martin, I think they could mount a genuine challenge against them if they were to meet again.

At the very least it would mean the Tigers would be heading into a Preliminary Final against Collingwood bruised, without an MCG home advantage and likely coming off only a six day break.

Conversely, up here in Qld is the worst drought in 20 years. It is bone dry and there is no rain at all in the forecast as far as they go - there was a dust storm here today, such is the dryness currently.

Win against Geelong and the Preliminary Final will be in the afternoon on a very dry, hard deck (without any humidity).

If the team is able to keep its legs for four quarters, things could open up rather magically.

I'd put money on a monsoonal downpour in Brisbane on the 21st September

That’s probably because we have ahome game before the trip then follow the trip to the Gabba with another home game. Wouldn’t be doing that this time

Zero chance of that occurring, the sudden stratospheric warming episode over Antarctica means monsoon season will be coming late this year.

BOM forecasting with high confidence that no rain will be falling in Brisbane between now and then:

Gotta stop banging on about potentially 3 away finals, otherwise we sound like Geelong. We just have to take any team, on any ground and play. The bye and long breaks between games mean travel shouldn't be an issue. If we play our brand with intensity, we can beat anybody, anywhere.

Sure we can beat anybody anywhere but having one away game potentially in 10 is a massive advantage

Well, there's not much we can do about that, is there? All of this posturing around which result we want is fruitless. Any Preliminary final against the Lions or Tigers would be a tough test in different ways. We're underdogs now and just need to realise that we aren't favourites in any game moving forward.
