Shit, it's as if people might have something else to do on a Thursday or Friday before Christmas, like turn up to those jobs to prop up the national economy.
Those Sydneysiders must just be really passionate about their cricket during the period where most businesses are closed.

Put that crowd into the WACA and it's a sellout.Getting near to 20k is impressive enough especially given what jorel6669 just outlined.
Also it wasn't exactly $10 to get in either, seats weren't cheap. It's still a working week and school week with the most oppressive weather conditions imaginable.
Rock and a hard place for the filthy grubs at the afl given how at every opportunity they ram gambling adds down people's throat's.Somewhat, although the rumor is that Beams had his gambling issues in Brisbane and saw the move back to Melbourne as a chance to break the cycle (one that obviously hasn't worked).
Gambling is right up there with recreational drugs as major player welfare issues that the league don't want to properly address.
There are semi-regular rumors of players with $1m+ gambling debts (beams being one of the more recent rumors). Clearly AFL players are being targeted by the gaming industry. The league doesn't want to know due to sponsorship revenue.

I get frustrated with the amount of gambling ads we see during footy games on the various channels they're broadcast too. I understand it's a bit of a past time and hobby for some but as a non-gambler and parent I get concerned that younger kids feel this is the norm
Test cricket is the best. But dont mind the BBL for my cricket fix. That last session is as good an advertisement for Test Cricket as you’ll see. Gripping.
Hadn’t had any hot days this summer and the surface was too soft. 40+ twice this week though, so I reckon it’ll be just as flat as everAnyone think the MCG pitch might actually give something this Boxing Day Test? The recently abandoned match proves it's possible to get some life into it if nothing else. I just wonder if they'll over correct back the other way and dish up a flat track of boringness.

Hot days in Perth give us a surface with cracks and deviation though. Why can't Melbourne comply with that? I don't know how far out from a match they start to get the pitch ready, but it seems like they have a few on the go in various stages of preparation so they can choose close to the time.
I actually think NZ werent THAT bad in Perth and it will be tough to repeat that result.Anyone think the MCG pitch might actually give something this Boxing Day Test? They said they’d fixed it last year and look how that turned out.Anyone think the MCG pitch might actually give something this Boxing Day Test? I don’t doubt it’s something to do with being between two curators, I hope the new one can figure it out because Boxing Day is losing some of it’s magic.
I love cricket terminology
imagine someone who knows nothing about cricket reading discussions online about roads being like:
