To be fair, his team did make the Grand Final last year in addition to prelims in two of the three years before that - that is a return.

But agreed, tactically he is one of the very worst coaches in the competition.
Same can be said for RTB but history doesn’t remember Preliminary finalists and GF losers

GWS really dug themselves out of a hole in that 4th quarter, hat's off.

Also Riccardi saved my multi by finally popping up for a snag.

How bad is Carlton at stopping a run on though. If an opposition team get 2 goals in a row vs Carlton, go and get the popcorn because they'll kick another 4.

Truth coming out:

This is apparently what Queensland's "loyalty to the game" looks like. Bent the knee something proper.

Yeah but then you get people argue that WC have been ultra successful under Simpson and it’s just so hard to win flag so you can’t judge based simply on premierships.

Using the same logic Simpson was one kick away from having ridiculous amounts of talent for 0 return (albeit much fewer first round picks).

This is the kind of stuff Mcgown didn't want to get into.

You can see why Gill wanted Queensland...

Also LOVE how Tom Browne is tying to defend Gill here lol

At least you can point to Simpson’s game style and say yes that is the identity of an Adam Simpson coached team.

What is the identity of the Giants, aside from this orange wave or whatever the media invented five years ago that is no longer close to relevant.

So remember when some posters were losing their shit because we overlooked Sydney Stack, whilst others pointed to him being something of a loose cannon with possible off field discipline issues

Maybe the clubs recruiters do have a general idea of what they’re doing sometimes

I think it is a bit unreasonable to expect Sydney to be the greatest upstanding citizen given everything we know he has already been through.

He is a guy who needs a strong structure around him with mentors, etc.

It's clear to see from this year that Richmond's culture is not all it's cracked up to be.

He royally ****ed up on this one, and also during the COViD break when he came back unfit, hence why he has hardly played. And he has made a dumb series of moves this year.

He isn't playing much in the seniors, there is no seconds comp, just a kick and giggle scrimmage.

This kind of year was always going to be hardest on the folks like Sydney who require a lot of guidance and structure in their lives.

I still think we missed out on him, even if we used a rookie pick on him.

Their brand is talent.

Unfortunately that is not enough.

I fully believe that they have too much talent on their list. They don't have anyone in their team that is just happy to be in the team do a job and get their hands dirty.

Sounds like they were on the wrong end of the altercation too

I was thrilled to read that GWS had re-signed Leon Cameron for another two years.

Maybe its just me, but I don't rate him as a coach, for the talent his has had at his disposal he has delivered SFA.

The Club has all the cattle to be very successful, however their game plan and team structures are all over the shop.

Cameron has not been able to harness the individuals and convert that talent into a collective , unified effort.

The problem with GWS is they need a few more Matt Deboer types and not a bunch of first rounders who have decent games in their first few years and demand top dollar.

For example Josh Kelly a few years back was having an awesome season and since signing on for top $ has not reached those lofty heights and is more likely going to head home anyway.
