Tonight's result means nothing honestly, had we beaten the dogs then it would have but we're not touching top 2 now.

If Lions lost tonight and we beat Saints we’d be tied, and our percentages are extremely close.

Would open up a R18 shootout for a top four spot, who could go for the biggest percentage, and we have North.

Would be nice for some other teams to drop a few to give us multiple shots at overtaking someone, otherwise we’re solely relying on Friday night. Lions need to drop 2 and tonight I was hoping GC showed up for the derby. Good to see they’ve dropped off and are giving our rivals some easy wins after smacking us earlier in the year though.

Lions have an extra game I think. They’d need to lose tonight plus another for us to be level.

Ah that’s true. Carlton a small curve ball at the end of the season but that’s fair.
Yeah I saw the points earlier in the week and thought we had a shot too. Not really helping my annoyance levels with them that 3 of their previous games they’ve won by a combined margin of 7 points. If we deserve top 4 over anyone it’s them. 90% of their games in their own state and they’re still arseing their way through.

Their best this year was incredible but they are young and tire easily every year.
They probably have a team out there tonight with an overall age profile below the league average but we’ve gotta stop cutting them that slack about their late season drop offs when they’ve got a core tonight of:

Swallow, Day, Ellis, Collins, Witts, Greenwood, Miller, Weller, Sexton and Corbett; all senior bodies with plenty of AFL (or a sprinkling of senior VFL/WAFL footy in the case of Collins & Corbett) experience.

Result isn’t going to matter much to us anyway but it’s just frustrating that we got pantsed to the tune of almost 8 goals by them and now they’re not putting up as much as a whimper.

We recently seem to play Fold Coast when they aren't a total basket case.

In 2020 it was at the start of the year with freakshow Rowell, last year it was after they rallied and started showing heart suddenly.

Other spud teams play them and they are absolute garbage.

I guess you could say some teams get all the luck

Gold Coast going to get spanked on Monday coming off a 5 day break to face the Pies who are off a bye and a 10 day break.

Will be interesting to see how Geelong's possession gameplan holds up in what bodes to be a very wet match against Richmond on Friday.

The benefit of Richmond having four extra days of break will probably become the difference if the weather turns it into a slog.
Richmond are going to mass rest players if/when we lose tomorrow night, Geelong will win by default regardless of weather imo.

For sure they have a lot of turnover to do still, and they really shouldn’t be fading out like this every year.

A lot of those senior players listed are spuds. Corbett has only played a handful of games but seems to have a low ceiling. Day isn’t AFL quality but he’s a big body. Collins has played f all AFL footy and has a tough job when he has first and second year players in the back six with him. Swallow needs to be phased out - kinda captain by default. Sexton is a pea heart and should be traded. Weller’s still young

You’re right that they shouldn’t be excused for these fade outs each year. It’s way too consistent

They'll be right.

Rankine, Lukosius, Freakshow Rowell, Anderson, King, Ballard all coming through together.

Ainsworth will probably leave at the end of 2020, 2 meter Peter will request a trade, but they won't get any "worse" at least.

Freakshow gives their midfield some much needed grunt.

Peter must have already told them he wants to go. No other reason why they’d play Day over him. Peter’s a gun IMO

FFS, in an alternate universe the Eagles have the likes of Yeo, Shuey, Cripps and Rioli returning to play this game which is held at Optus after a 7 day break. Meanwhile the Geelong V Richmond game is being held at the Gabba, in the middle of the day in bright sunshine with Richmond coming off a 4 day break and with Dusty, Cotchin, Cantstandya, and Lynch out suspended or injured.

That alternate universe is awesome.

**** that was hard to watch. I would be ropable if I was a team mate being coached by a first year kid who played 5(?) matches.
Didnt see what he was going but I was under the impression that he was just an opposition analyst?

Port supporters are whinging about not being able to play their last round game vs Collingwood at Adelaide Oval. Which is ironic considering they were one of a few teams who sooked to the the AFL about us and North enquiring about the North game being played in Perth...

Even when times are tough for the Eagles you really get a sense of perspective from the Essendon fans. This video particularly the end look from Petracca is absolute perfection.

Lol - woosha gives zero ****s. This is probably payback for all the times bombers beats us in the 90s in finals. Woosh came over to take their money and take them nowhere.
