He basically walked and on his way out he gave Essendon a serve and told them they needed to take a reality check.

The Essendon Football Club is way too nepotistic and incestuous.

It's something that Sheedy encouraged and fostered ..... and NOW part of the Clubs forward planning sees them bring the Old Clown back again into the Clubs Inner Sanctum.

Can't see how. Only JK and Hurn to retire end of next year.

All depends on how Allen comes along and if our midfield can click properly. JK has been on and off for a few seasons now and we've shown so far we can cover for him. Hurn was quite poor until the backend of 2020 but our ball movement from defense also sucked, so we'll have to see how qe fix that. Witherden might be a big factor there.

I don't see us falling off a cliff anytime soon. May have a down year or two along the way as the new guys take over from the vets, before getting another crack at it. Could be very similar to 2008-2010 where we dipped, only to have two good cracks in 2011/12 when guys like Cox, Kerr, Glass, Embley, Waters etc were still there to support the kids.

Why didn't they try and offload Grundy to get Cameron?

Like I know Grundy is a gun player, but Collingwood have been crying out for a ready made FF for years. Pop Cameron next to DeGoey and Stephenson/Elliot and you've got a quality forward line, or send DeGoey into the middle along with Pendles, Sidebottom, Adams, and Treloar and you'd essentially be carpet bombing your forward line. fu** Cox off from his $650K per year and you're sorted?

With a midfield like that you can shark taps for days, even pinch someone like Goldstein for a year or two as a stop gap while you build another ruck up.

And all of this ready to go before you even hit the draft, or raid your academy.

I mean it's all very easy for me to say from behind a computer (with a cinnamon bun and a cup of tea in front of me) but surely giving away Phillips, Treloar and Stephenson for absolute ******* peanuts can't have been a better option...

Is it just my opinion or does grundy go missing/choke on the big stage.

Always seemed to go missing whenever he plays us.
