It's called draft tampering.

Why can’t we go down the route of the NBA type system with draftees and have them locked to a club for 4 years. 2 years mandatory and then a “team contract” that can be declined if the club no longer wants them.

Players association wouldn’t be too keen Id imagine but I really think if you’re signing up to the draft you should be prepared to go wherever and stick it out for 4 years otherwise go find another career. Players holding clubs to ransom by saying they’ll leave at the first opportunity and draft tampering is bullshit, and to then be laughed off by the commentary as some playful banter is why this league is amateur hour. Kick them out of the draft and tell them to come back next year if they interview like that.

Injury has cruelled us but decent sides don't put up the performances we have against the Saints and now Geelong.

We might even stagger through until after the bye and make a charge towards finals... But we won't be legitimate contenders and the worst part is the playing group knows it too.

Had a pretty tough draw so far , could easily still make the eight have Ryan , Petruccelle , Williams and L Edwards, Trew in the team ....think of it as good experience for the team .

I think given the age of Nic Nat, Hurn & JK we owe it to them to at least try and make finals and see what happens from there.

I said the same during 2017, yet that was one of the standout finals series this millennium (alongside 05,06,11,15,18 - **** we are spoilt). That experience in a cut throat final against Port must have helped them in 2018.

Sending JK etc out with 1 last finals win would be good. I can picture it like Petrie Mitchell etc but then trudging off on shoulders knocked out in week 2 (again)

I said the same during 2017, yet that was one of the standout finals series this millennium (alongside 05,06,11,15,18 - fu** we are spoilt). That experience in a cut throat final against Port must have helped them in 2018.

There was a lot of similar sentiment in the back half of 2017.

Better to miss the finals and see how far away we are/get a better pick than scrape them and stay delusional about our premiership prospects.

Firmly believe that the 2017 finals campaign (along with 2015 GF) were two of the biggest factors in us keeping our cool during the 2018 finals series and GF.

Unless you’re talking a materially different pick, eg 4th instead of 10th, I don’t see a world where making finals isn’t a mile better than finishing just on the cusp.
