Overall, he’ll be negatively impacted to some extent, but not really all that much. He’ll be less competitive at centre bounces, but neutral at where most stoppages occur. There will be less throw ins, but not really that many less given the existing interpretation and limiting to centre 50 anyway.

I think the unknown is if the game speeds up, will the ‘thriving on continuity and huge workload’ strong, wrestling type be able to keep up?
Well given O'Brien has one of the best tanks in the side I doubt it would be a problem for him in that regard, would certainly handle it better than most ruckmen I would think. We'll certainly find out one way or the other.

I suspect that down the track we will realise that having Thilthorpe or Curtin take the ruck around the ground will make us a MUCH better team.
Going to be very interesting to see if it happens and when.
It would only happen (the first time) if ROB got injured during a game

Dunno, they are more valuable elsewhere.

It would make us better in clearances/ruck but it makes us worse overall I think.

With the new ruck rules of throwing the ball up quickly, I think it's more important to have good options around the ground.

Thilthorpe can take forward taps.
Curtin can take non-centre bounce taps.
ROB take centre bounces & those he can get to but otherwise park himself around CHB or a kick behind the play.

I tend to agree, but wouldn't it be better to have a ruck who can mark doing that?
