Let's play a guessing game folks, who can name a surgical procedure that has a 100% success rate?![]()
Interesting the Bombers played their Irish recruit last night, I think he had about 5 possies in the last quarter. Looked like he only made 1 mistake when he took on 1 too many players.
It was only his second ever footy match (first being an interclub last week).
Any chance of the Crows doing something like this with Donnely? I would thing it would give him a major lift in confidence and hopefully hunger to succeed.
If not, it is interesting to see the different approaches to the development of these guys and will be more interesting to see the eventual result of this development.
Autopsy
Ankles are the impact injuries in basketball, knees are twists and cartledge tears.
In footy knees will get the impact injuries (like Sarges in perth)
The surface in footy can help with it's softness, but because you wear stops, your leg can get stuck in a possition and when your bodys slung your knee will go.
I'm sure macca will be fine, it's just this surgury doesn't have a 100% success rate in basketball.
Only a week to go so I might as well have a crack at it.
IMO Craig will want to play his strongest side to try his revised game plan while playing last year's grand Final favourite.
B: Stevens Rutten Johncock
HB: Goodwin Rutten McLeod
C: Mackay Thompson Knights
HF: Porplyzia Gill Douglas
F: Edwards Tippett Walker
R: Maric Reilly van Berlo
I: Griffin, Hentschel, Kite, Doughty, Shirley, Vince, Dangerfield.
Couldn't find a spot for Moran in the 25, unless Kite doesn't get a start.
Those that are next in line IMO if any my 25 are not fit to play are, in alphabetical order :
Armstrong, Cook, Jacky, Martin, Moran, Otten and Sellar,
question
do you expect Dougie and Proplyzia to be fit and available for selection?
Good question and one that I hadn't really taken into account, given that they haven't been training with the main group.
If anyone of the 2 were to play it would be Douglas. Porps is less likely to play given his shoulder surgery.
If these 2 don't play, the likely ins for them would come from Armstrong, Cook, Jacky, Martin and Otten.
Could be any of them but possibly Cook and Armstrong given their Darwin form, with Jacky also a good chance.
EDIT: I keep forgetting Petrenko who would probably be the first one to get a game if either of Porps and Douglas don't play.
I am keen to see Jacky get some NAB game time, we need to see what he can bring to the Forward line mix along with Walker, Tippett, Gill and Hentchel.
Cook, in my eyes could be another D-Mac success story, even though the young lad did not get to many touches in Darwin, I thought couple of his efforts to chase down was fantastic
I would like to see Goody, Macca, Goughty and Shirley rested for rnd 1 of the NAB cup and give a opportunity to Kite, Cook, Jacky, Otten and Armstrong
Back on topic, my thoughts for the team next weekend:
B: Johncock Rutten Moran
HB: Mcleod Bock Doughty
C: Mackay Thompson Reilly
HF: Gill Stevens Goodwin
FF: Douglas Tippet Edwards
R: Maric van Berlo Vince
I: Griffin, Knights, Walker, Dangerfield, Shirley, Otten & the 2 subs: Petrenko and Sellar (I think thats how they're doing it in the MMC)
Tough one, we've got a lot more youngsters "around the mark" for games this year and its really tough to squeeze them all in as you want to see blokes like Kite, Cook, Armstrong, Jacky, Mckernan, Hentschel etc. get games, but there's just not enough spots on the field, at least it will keep the competition for spots fierce.

I agree with this team but disagree with the subs selection. At this stage of the season i would be looking at only giving 1 senior guys half a game (Goodwin, Edwards, McLeod) and the other sub would be Hentschel or Reilly to ease them back into it.
Have Goodwin play the first half, Edwards the second with Hentschel and Reilly doing the same.
in an article is said mcleod and edwards will be the subs.
Who would you see coming in if VB is unavailable through injury?
