Rex Hunt. Self-Centered or Splendid?

What are the thoughts on him as a commentator. I loved listening to him during the footy broadcast, he livens things up and is always honest about the game.
I do believe there are plenty of people who dont like him (Rex's half our is a bit slow) so I'd like to hear thoughts.

I like that fact that he and the 3AW team keep the game interesting regardless of the score - they manage to turn a boring game into one still worth listening to.

Seems to spend a lot of his time talking complete bollocks for someone who is honest.

OK to listen to if the game is shyte but if its a good game you never know who has the ball, where the ball is on the ground or who is winning, he is in his own little land.

after his little sex scandal last year I would say he is a big hypocrite with the way he has talked about other people involved in such scandals on radio.

I enjoy his commentating especially the nicknames he uses. He can be very biased especially if Richmond is playing. I also have listened when he has hyped up the winning team on the day so much you would think they must be the greatest football team ever, then next week he will run down that same team in a pre-match review. I find that very confusing and admit prefer to listen to people who are a little more even and objective and not bipolar like ol Rexy.

I cannot agree that he isnt honest and that he is bias. If someone doesnt like his nicknames or banter thats fineits not for them but he is always informed and interesting in my eyes.

Listen to 6PR's broadcast in Perth for the Subiaco games. They're generally pretty amusing.

i love the people who say, you never know where the ball is with rex, he is blabbering..but i listen to MMM.
Ultimate hypocricy there, heres a little trick for those interested, if your ever at a game where both stations are calling, and have a walkman handy(as many do) listen to a quarter on either station, i guarentee AW will be more up to date with play and have a better idea whats going on.
Having said that MMM have gotten rid of "Q" so they may improve

When something exciting happens Rex screams. He gets excited, reflects the mood of the crowd. When the game is crap he says it like it is and entertains. More than those fools at Triple M can say who continue to critique each other on commentary and are about as exciting as 774.

A hypocrite and a pumped - up arrogant bully. Uses the media to enforce his views and totally intolerant of any criticisms or questioning of himself. His call is farcical. If you want crude theatre, and also to listen to ordinary people being verbally abused and beaten up then maybe Rex meets your questioable taste.

If you want football tune in to the ABC......

He's paid to be an entertainer but to commentate the football at the same time. In that respect he does better than most commentators, and he does call it like he sees it. He's in a league of his own as an entertainer IMO.

I loved it how Triple M's Tonty Martin dissed him for sleeping with a prostitute - It was a pisser!

I listen to him whenever he's broadcasting our game.

Mind you, I'm often at the game so when he carries on with rubbish I still get to see what's going on - probably no good for those who aren't at the game!

We get the 3AW commentaries here in Adelaide on 5AA.

Good value IMO and very entertaining, although Rex does get a bit carried away with himself at times.

The rest of his team complement him nicely though, so it all ends up as a top package to listen to.
