With this Brownlow Medal does Mark Ricciuto join the other South Australian football immortals like Russell Ebert, Barrie Robran, Bernie Smith, Malcolm Blight, John Platten, and so on...?

His achievements as a player are absolutely outstanding, and while he doesn't recieve the same current media treatment as Voss, Hird, Buckley and his team mate McLeod - make no mistake he is one of the greats, despite seemingly being under-rated by those outside this state for much of his career.

Just to recap:

AFL Games: 240
AFL Goals: 199
Rising Star Nominee: 1993
All-Australian: 1994, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2003
State-of-Origin Representative: ???
Premiership Squad Member: 1997, 1998
Premiership Player: 1998
AFC Club Champion: 1998 (Premiership Year), 2003 (SURELY)
International Rules Representative: 1998, 2000
AFC Club Captain: 2001-
Brownlow Medal: 2003

Thoughts?

What about Buckley? He now joins Platten - and someone else? - as having the rare distinction of winning both a Magarey medal and Brownlow medal.

Indeed... although technically Bucks is a Territorian...

Blight did the Magarey/Brownlow and the Farmer/Coleman double as well.

I've heard Buckley refer to himself as a South Australian.

Hmmm... well as far as SOO rules go he's a Territorian/Ally but fair enough ;)

No question Roos record speaks for itself. Hopefully he can add a premiership captain and a Norm Smith Medal to that resume:D

According to Eddie "I know everything" McGuire, Roo, Buckley and Goodes were all born in SA :D

Shove that in your pipe and smoke it arrogant vics:p

And I'd probably be a NSWman, but **** that. We all know the rules were changed just to screw us out of Carey.

I'd be South Aussie or a Vic... but my true love is Tasmania.

Roo is an absolute legend. Fantastic to see him win - I have dreamt of a Crow winning, but I didn't think it would be this year!

He goes straight to the top of SA footy greats. He is a fantastic.

Lets hope that he gets his next dream - to captain a premiership!
