I know there two different players but from what I remember Yarran was a pick infront of Rich and I remember thinking why the faqc did Carlton not get him hes a got heaps on Yarran though lately im starting to see it even out.
Who would you rather in your team Daniel Rich or Chris Yarran

Rich. I've had longer discussions on this but he does a harder job in more difficult circumstances.

As I come from Brisbane I see him play every week, to me he doesnt have the talent of Yarran yet plays much harder and that left foot is a weapon. Though Yarrans run from half back is wankable..

Then again im bias

Brisbane only have one game on national free to air this year so for many, the perception that Rich peaked 3 years ago and hasn't improved will keep getting trotted out, despite how well he's playing.

impressed by rich this year. has slimmed down and looks a slicker player than last year when he seemed to be just going.

yarran's talent takes him to another level though.

Exactly!

Rich has the tendency to go missing during games. When he fixes it he will be a very feared player.

Youd be happy with either. I dont think supporters from either side would cry too much if a straight swap magically happened during trade month '12.

Yarran has the higher upside of the two, but Rich has a lot more of the qualities that you cant teach - Mongrel being one of them.

Rich can roost the ball a mile, but Yarran is no slouch when it comes to footskills either. Sublime kick of the footy.

Yarrans jizzworthy running game and ability to back himself needs to be weighed against his ability to go missing at times, and inconsistencies with defensive pressure and second efforts. That said, hes a 20 y/o that has been shoved into an unfamiliar role (half forward to running defender) while Rich has had the luxury of a straight step up from midfield as a junior to the same role in the seniors. Having mesrs Black (and untill recently) Power running alongside helped as well. Will be copping the number 1 tag pretty darn soon on a weekly basis (when Black retires), so should be intresting to see how Daniel copes.

I firmly beleive that Yarran has the higher upside, and is one of those blokes that has the ability to literally turn a game with a moment of brilliance. When those moments of brilliance develop into consistent brilliance, watch out AFL. For that reason (and Carlton bias), Im going with Yarran.

Put Rich into the midfield of Carlton in the Simpson outside runner type role and he'd be playing much better than he is in Brisbane's struggling midfield.

Rich...yarran had to go down back and get cheap touches to look good...although his run and carry is damm impressive, if he can ever make it as a HF/Mid he could be a elite player

Rich has been slogging it in the midfield for the lions for years

Rich would fit nicely in our midfield

Can't shake the perception that Yarran is a downhill skier. Needed to kick that set shot last night and he botched it. Should have been bread and butter for a player of his skill level.

Rich on the other hand has emerged as a real fighter this year. Was decisive in that fourth quarter comeback vs West Coast. Absolutely love him.

Yep.

Rich is better because Yarran had a poor set shot for goal.

Makes sense o_O

Ignoring the fact that Yarran very nearly provided the spark we needed to get over the line?

Laughable.

Lucky no one said that then.

I said that Yarran missing that goal just reinforced my perception that he is a bit of a frontrunner. Was found wanting last week against the high intensity Port assault too.

Didn't see much of him Vs. Essendon in a big loss, but was near BOG against Richmond in a big win too.

Obviously my Brisbane bias comes into it a little but if anybody has watched the two players this season, it'd be pretty hard to go past D-Rich. Hopefully will poll well in the Brownlow and get some recognition.

Your intent was clear.

Yarran is making his way back from injury. You're either having a laugh, or incredibly stupid, if you think what he's shown the past few games is his true and full ability.

Not losing any sleep over passing on Rich in favour of Yarran.

Something else I didn't say.

Good!
