Alright, lets face it.

The main match up people want to see here is Hudson V Marsh. You watched the Footy Show this morning and saw BM stuff up and thought "that'd be right, that's Marshy for you!"

Can I just ask that we refrain from Marsh bashing until after the game? Yes I'm being overly cautious, but we shouldnt get ahead of ourselves.

I remember the day Anthony Ingerson fronted up for the Dees against us at Footy Park in the Shaw years ...we all took Ingo too lightly that day and he kicked the goals that helped win Melbourne the match. The lesson for me was dont take an ex Crow lightly.

I'm all for being keen to see the match up but dont get carried away.

Now then ... What we will be watching is two of the worst game plans in the AFL going around on Friday night. I dunno what it is that Richmond play. I cant seem to make sense of it.

However this wide, over possive, ineffecient, poorly delivered thing we do actually produced 15 goals last night. There is some genuine improvement in the general work rate, intensity and leadership of the team...now if we could just run the ball down the ground through the centre square and not outside it, we might be OK.

At this stage I would tip us...but I'd feel a lot more certain of that once I see the line ups on Thursday.

Lose and see ya later finals for the AFC.
Win and we may contribute to the sacking of another Richmond coach.

Clubs been heading in the right direction ( abeit we need a win ), however a loss against Richmond will really put a dent in Ayres re-election program.

I think already we will miss the finals, but if we lose to the Tigers, we truely would have hit rock bottom. With the Doggies about to win, we are the only winless team for the season!

Possible Line-up:

B: Begley, Hentchel, Massie
HB: Gallagher, McGregor, McLeod
C: Reilly, Ricciuto, Burton
HF: Johncock, Perrie, Jericho
F: Carey, Welsh, Bode
R: Clarke, Stenglein, Edwards
I: Hudson, Smart, Doughty, Torney

IN: Perrie, Reilly, Torney
OUT: Stevens, Bassett, Schuback (get a full game with Westies)

Its official we are at the bottom of the ladder and the only team that hasn't won a game this season :( When I look at the top 8 spots on the ladder they seem so far away from 16th position that I just can't see the Crows clawing their way back up there.

If they play with as much determination and commitment as they have the last two weeks then the crows should win this week but having said that they seem to have lacked that little extra that would see them win a game.

I really believe the Crows are a better team than Richmond and I don't feel I am being blindly optimistic when I say that the crows CAN win this week-GO CROWS!!!

The midfield is where it will be won and lost - hopefully Ricciuto, McLeod and Burton can get the better of Campbell, Coughlan and Johnson.

Fingers crossed...

Richmond have won 2 of their last 18 games.

We have won 1 of our last 9.

Who would have thought that we would ever be one of the 2 teams in the "Clash of the scrubbers"???

If the Crows can run the ball down the corridor, they will have a good chance of winning.

If the Crows can kick to LEADING forwards, they will have a good chance of winning.

If the Crows do not achieve both of these endevours, then I believe that we are not favourites to win the game.

We should not underestimate Richmond. They were in bad form when they faced Collingwood and they absolutely thrashed the pies. We really need to take this game seriously. Nothing else matters. A win is a necessity.

My ins and outs:
IN: Reilly (If he is free to go)
Out: Basset (Needs to find form, SANFL is a safer option)

Get Hentschel to play Full Back and place Kenny at CHB.

If we are not good enough to beat Richmond then I think we deserve the wooden spoon.

I can swollow a defeat to a sides like we played in first 4 round but to lose to Tigers would REALLY get my blood boiling. Anything less that a win will be unacceptable.

Well, we've hit rock bottom, but so have the Tiges, they couldn't possibly play any worse. At least we've shown something recently, and away in Subi and against the top of the ladder Saints no less.

Richmond on the other hand are due to actually play a decent game of footy one of these days and the way this season is going, I'd bet it's next Friday night, in front of their faithful (and it would be their faithful, because no one else will possibly want to go.)

Normally we thump Richmond because of our midfield ascendancy but this year, that is gone. And for all their ineptness down back and somewhat shoddy gameplan, they still has some very classy players.

I see danger signs all over this game.....a good start is a must.

I think this could be the year of the talls. Going by the players selected to play Ireland in the U18 series, there are a a LOT of players 195 cm +.

To get a priority picks a side must't win more than 5 games. 5 wins a a draw doesn't give you priority picks so anything more than 5 wins means no priority picks.

And to think Kane you thought I was just being pessimistic after round 1.

Looks like Basset could be out injured. If not, then he's a chance to be dropped. Who could take the FB spot?

1. Replace Bass with Perrie. Perrie plays CHF, move Scott Stevens to full back.

When we recruited Stevens I was under the impression he was to play in defence. Here's his chance, at least it will keep him away from kicking for goal. Probably our best bet.

2. Nathan Bock (193 cm). Has the height and can provide some run. SANFL form has been solid but not named in eagles best this week in the SM or WWT site. Hopefully he will get a run this year - and he should he's been around long enough so has to show something this year. Best suited to a flank/pocket.

3. Trent Hentschel (192 cm). Has the height but is best suited to a back pocket/flank.

The main problems we have with our key possie players that could do the job is the same weakness we have with Bass - lack of strength.

According to AFL Record from Wiz Cup - Bass is 86 kg. The likes of Bock (82 kg), Hentschel (81kg) are too light and are lighter than Bassett. Giving them the full back spot doesnt solve our problem (lack of strength).

For mine, these guys really need to be over the 90 kg + mark to hold down full back. We need a serious weight program for next year to get these guys and Jericho, Watts and Andrews into the 90 kg zone. Scott Stevens is closer to the 90 kg mark (88 kg) but not much.

4. Ben Rutten (190cm, 96 kg). Pace would be the problem for him and is probably best suited to a forward role. However it would'nt hurt to test him out in defence to see if he can use his strength to our advantage.

No it doesn't.

But given that a team has to win at least 12 games to make the finals - and our poor percentage might mean 13 for us - that means at least 12 wins out of 18 games.

Conversely we can only lose 6 more games. If we lose both Showdowns and our trip to Brisbane, thee's only room for 3 more losses at most.

Even making the 8 from here will be tough.

AFL record and AFL.com are the last 2 places you would be looking for up to date info.

Hentschel is up to 90 kg and Bock id up to 87 kg. Watts has already put on 5 kg since he came over so he is up to 90 kg now. He needs another 10 on his frame. hentschel wants to get to 95 kg and I think Bocky has the same aim. Stevens to me appears to be the sort of bloke that finds it really hard to put on weight. I reckon he will be a skinny tall for the rest of his career. He is just that build.

Aparently Rutten played really well at CHF but I reckon he might need a couple of matches in SANFL to get match fit.

Hmm, i get to go to this game due to a well-timed Melbourne trip, if we can't get up against Richmond (without Richardson) its gonna be a loooooong season. Still, they're starting to play better, so if we're gonna win one, this is the time to do it. Then again, after seeing the Richmond supporters on Saturday night, I think I'll be leaving halfway through the last quarter if we're winning! A lot of anger flowing round Punt Rd at the moment! Heaven forbid I get a papercut from being attacked with a torn-up membership :p

I know the info is a bit old...but where else is there?

Bock and Hentschel still need to put on another 10 kg regardless. Neither one of them are strong enough for full back atm.
