Riewoldt tore adductor 2 days before GF.

Maybe he should have told his teammates about the injury so they didn't kick it to him at EVERY opportunity. Anyway it was wet and Taylor played a freak game (always plays well on Riewoldt but average against the rest), so I doubt it would have changed the result much.
That's funny. He seems to always beat Roughead.

Gotta love the old 'losers limp'. He's just not that good, that's all... Taylor is universally called a hack by all and sundry, yet managed to convincingly beat this sook. It's the Saints culture - look at Harvey, the most self serving player in the history of the game. Played for personal glory and held back the development of a kid.

Funny how Alatna has grabbed onto this unverified piece of information, form an unreliable source , to justify, yes justify why Saint Nick was beaten in a game four weeks ago which they lost.
Injured players selected in any game are a risk, some play through it some don't( not sure why Taylors hand has anything to do with this, even bruide he managed to take two great marks int he last quarter with his opposing player nowhere in sight oh yes that was....... Nick) so if the adductor was torn Saint Nick didn't perform and should not have been out there or the plan should have been to kick it to someone else. Oh thats right who else was there. despite Ch10s pathetic efforst to find excuses for St Kilda " it wasn't a day for tall forwards" Mooney kicked 2 and Hawkins at 43 games kicked 1 (or2). So stop grabbing hold of pathetic stories to make excuses for a good but not yet great player.

What a ridiculous thread. Who cares. No excuses if you run out onto the ground.

Totally agree.

The Aints and Riewoldt would have been best to STFU for good re this excuse after the event.
If you take an injured player into a game then you've got nothing.

Cats fully deserved their win and this cry-baby act does not detract from it one iota.

Riewoldt played a bad game and didnt adapt to the conditions. Was jumping around and flying for marks as if it was 24 degrees and not a cloud in the sky.

2010 is where my focus and interest now lies, threads like these are unprofitable and annoying.

Maybe he pulled it when he took that swan dive the week before against the Bulldogs?

I mean what we know out of the 2009 finals series is that Riewoldt is a great player who dives and "leaks to the media" when he is hurt.

From memory the Norm Smith medal was won by a bloke playing with a fully torn hamstring who the medicos are stunned by, because of his ability to withstand pain.

I know which is the most inspiring story.

This.

I was going to pretty much say exactly the same thing. Heroes work through pain. Yeah it would have hampered St. Nick's performance, but then again so does being a giant freaking marshmallow.

This is all just a ploy to distract everybody from the fact that Harry Taylor is a shoo in for the 2010 Brownlow.

I heard that the board down at Geelong were so impressed with Taylor's performance in the GF that he's going to be Captain Coach in '10.

This story made me laugh for 3 reasons:
1. If Riewoldt was injured 2 days before the GF, the medicos and himself would've been prepared for the day, you know injections, physiotherapy etc...
2. As already said, the champ who won the Norm Smith tore his hammy during the game....
3. Harry Taylor hurt his wrist during the game yet recorded an equal record amount of spoils on Riewoldt...

Oh and to add a fourth one, the story was by Craig Hutchison, who knows if it is true or if Hutchy was just building up a nothing story as usual

I think riewoldt had already had the premiership speech written before the match.

Played like a millionaire. Seemed camera conscious for most of the afternoon. Harry was much more football conscious and won the day.

You can't get much dumber than this, it just ain't possible
How many more are you guys hiding down at hawk land like this imbecile?

Well to me it says 1 of 2 things. Either Nick is selfish and cost his team a grand final because he didn't withdraw or the coaches didn't think the Saints stood a chance in hell of winning without Nick.. Either way doesn't look good.
