Righto Carlton!

We have a thread on Josh Fraser, Jude Bolton, Jared Brennan... there's even a thread on Jason Torney

Every contrated player will get a mentioned before the PSD. Shouldn't you be angry at your own club for not signing him up yet, instead of calling Carlton supporters pathetic for being interested in an All Australian full back?

Whitnall too big a risk your thoughts?

No bloody way...he is gone.

Would be shattered if they even thought about him.

I think he was a disgraceful skipper for the Blues and it was an appalling decision by them to make a bloke, that cant be committed enough to lose some weight to take the strain off his suspect legs, captain.

No Way.

Given we are repleneshing our list & Tippett & Sellar waiting in the wings, what would be the point?

On Rutten, tell Carlton their dreamin'

Dont blame you guys for trying. If anything its a compliment to the truck.

What do you think his motivations would be in a move to Carlton though? Wont be a big increase in salary, with the million dollar man settling down at the blues. I dont see why hed leave his home state to travel to Carlton...

Yeah, exactly.

I don't see why everyone is getting so upset over this. Of course they'd want to poach Ben Rutten. He's an excellent player and fills their second most obvious need (ruck being #1). Doesn't mean they'll get him. Cute that they're discussing it though.

Also, I had to laugh at the post where someone said they'd buy him an X-Box 360 if he came to Carlton. Funny stuff. :D

Most have taken it in the right spirit. Better to be rated than not I guess and it would be remiss of all clubs not to put out their feelers. Like with the Brisbane players, to have so many decent players out of contract this time of year, others are bound to notice and speculate.

Bannister and Saddington are out of contract at Carlton, I just know you guys are eyeing them off! :D

We desperately need a key defender, Rutten is out of contract, and our supporters are just discussing how great it would be to get him. Nothing sinister going on. Obviously we rate him very highly.

He'll stay at Adelaide though

Carlton are a bunch of fools, like most clubs in Victoria (Richmond, Carlton particularly) they target interstate club's (Brisbane is a pefect example) youngsters, who are prone to go-home factor, etc.

Pratt as Carlton's sugar daddy has given them the mindset that they can poach in player from any club. Getting Judd is one thing, he wanted to moev to Victoria. Wishing to poach Rutten is on the other end of the spectrum, he is sensible enough to stick by AFC rather than going to that rabble of a club Carlton. Even his contract price wouldn't be much more significant than what Adelaide will offer.

Carlton should actually grow their own talent rather than tanking. Both Adelaide and Brisbane's talented youngsters have come from the pick 18 and onwards (eg; Adcock pick 35, Maric pick 40).

That said, Rutten will obviously stay. He seems the kind of bloke who is loyal. :):thumbsu: Atleast I hope so, I love watching Rutten play (except on Browny :o).

Judd goes to the blues & all of a sudden they are a very attractive club to play for... they are still gonna be crap for another 2-3 years.. if Judds got chronic groin problems & they dont manage to keep Gibbs there they will alwas be stuffed

wouldnt be suprised if Rutten is captain next year, got a feeling it aint gonna be Goodwin

Judd signing with Carlton brings Gibbs closer. Two years time there will be cap pressure and thats when Goody and Edwards will retire. I hope Adelaide have started working on it now and invited his parents to dinner fora chat.

Now that we are rebulding, Goodwin being captain is a step back. Thompson or Rutten have to be captain. When does Goody's contract run out??

Pay cut's are usually taken in this respect, AFTER a premiership. You better hope you get that flag, and the 5/6 th's of the list the rest of the cap represents, even after this flag, still accept all these pay cuts.

I would hope for the Blues sake (that is, I would hope if I didn't think they were scum), that the Blues board aren't relying on this fairy tale, because it may well never come true.
Judd's the best player in the AFL, but he's still a BIG risk in my eyes.

Why is he a big risk? We're paying Judd just as much as you were paying Cousins before his 'issues' were revealed

Reckon Judd will spend his money more wisely than Cousins too.

Doesn't Gibb's contract run out at the end of 2008?

Now that we've been screwed over by the Bulldogs and Melbourne, we now know the ropes of successful trading.

Wait until the player is uncontracted, he says he is leaving, he nominates only the Crows as the team he wants to go to and we then negotiate an under valued exchange of draft picks and players for him.

Easy. :thumbsu::)

It seemed to work well for Melbourne, the Bulldogs, and of course, Carlton themselves with the Judd deal.

It would appear some of these players were approached before they came out of contract.

I agree we should play the same game, but preferably with clubs who have done the dirty on us.

When is Ryan Griffin out of contract? Couldn't be worth more than a 3rd rounder. ;)

Don't talk to me about that frontrunner Cooney - they can keep him but to have the two griff's I would be very happy. Some of our posters have enough trouble spelling McLeod's name, imagine what it would be like with Griffin and Griffen :D

Mate, we would need to finish very in the bottom 2 to even contemplate getting Gibbs or Griffen the way we lost Meesen and Hudson, they went so cheaply because they would be picked up in the PSD if we didn't trade to the asking price.

Not sure we will be doing that, not the Adelaide Crows way, and our team with a top class defence and still very good midfield will ensure we don't.
