Respectfully, how is he comparing to Ugle-Hagan? If I recall we tried to get Ugle-Hagan initially but couldn’t because he was an academy player? I don’t watch many Footscray games. Is he travelling well? Is he starting to dominate?

“Riley (Thilthorpe) was always our man. He knew what we thought about him and he wasn’t too worried about going pick two.”

The bid on Ugle-Hagan was strategic. RT was the one they wanted.

The Dogs would be thanking us in hindsight that we pulled a brilliant strategic move to prevent them drafting Jimmy Rowe

It always confuses me why more teams don’t make their opponents pay full price for their academy/father son picks.

What benefit was there for North and GWS allowing the Pies to get Daicos at 4? North also could have made the dogs pay full price for Darcy and didn’t.

If we’re playing Murphy, we could be playing Rowe instead.
Rowey got unlucky and was drafted when we were shit, I bet he’d be doing far better with our current side.

Same as Ashcroft last year

Darcy went 2 though didn’t he?

North took JHF at 1 and elected not to bid on Daicos or Darcy.

GWS then bid on Darcy, but for some reason did not bid on Daicos and took Callaghan instead.
My guess is people dont want to upset other clubs in the event of their own F/S or academy projects.

So you don’t make a team (in last years case, the reigning premier), pay full price when they’re about to be handed the best player in the draft, on the off chance that IF you have a F/S down the line that some club MIGHT be in a position to do it back to you? Bizarre logic if you ask me.

I agree, but its a plausible explanation if you KNOW youve got kids coming through the system.

Seems too nice to me.

Crows are one team that has held other teams accountable historically making them pay fair market price. It’s annoying other clubs have been soft and not followed our lead. Darcy at 2 isn’t late though (at the time) as JHF will probably be a B/low Medalist one day. Daicos late but by only one pick but what a top 4

JHF, Darcy, Callaghan and Daicos…

Even we don’t do it every time, we could have bid on Ashcroft at 4 and still ended up with Sid.

I know people don't want him in the ruck but...... **** he could be such a weapon in there.

Incredible footballer
We needed him there on Saturday as Witts was dominating ROB.

A rare case of complete agreement between the coaches on the names, if not the order.

5 Thilthorpe
4 Rioli
3 Rankine/Miller
2 Miller/Rankine
1 Uwland

5 Thilthorpe

3 Rioli
2 Miller/Rankine
1 Rankine/Miller
Reckon the top is Nicks

It would be such a waste of having him in the ruck.

He is #1 in the AFL for Goals. He is #1 in the AFL for Goal Assists. He is #5 for contested marks and #3 for marks inside 50.

And the best part is that I don't think he has had close to his best game. He is gonna kick 8 on someone this year.

Because in the real world decisions don't occur in a vacuum.

Moving forward they will potentially be a draft/trading partner or teams have other players available for F/s / Academy that they don't want others to bid on.

SEN (via Andy and Gazey show) are running a count for the best non-mids. If you attend a single Centre bounce, you're intelligible for that match (I think wingers aren't included either).

RT had polled in the first 3 rounds and was leading.
Will surely get the 3 again tonight.
