CARLTON recruit Robert Warnock will have his pre-season further delayed by ankle surgery.
The former Fremantle Docker carried the injury during the year, but Carlton's medical team have decided he needs surgery to get through his first season at the Blues.
Warnock, 21, had shoulder surgery on August 1, which had already delayed his first pre-season in Victoria.
The 206cm ruckman is likely to be sidelined for a month.
Carlton said yesterday it was determined not to rush a recruit it sees as a 10-year player at the club.
