Rookie List

With the debut of Barlow yesterday, it looks like we're getting more success with the rookie list than with drafting in the national draft. So perhaps trading picks for established guys like Ted Richards, Peter Everitt & Darren Jolly (we won't mention Paul Chambers) hasn't been such a bad idea.

Also I think Sam Rowe isn't far off, and he was pick 62 in the 2006 rookie draft.

Rowe's draft position within the rookie draft is misleading since he was a NSW zone selection (along with Barlow).

I remember after the 2005 draft - which the one you've listed is really; 2006 was last year's - Roos said how impressed he was with the crop they'd got and that there wasn't a single one they looked at and thought "why did we pick him". Certainly seems to be a promising group from the lower end of the draft. Let's just hope a few of them can go on with it and become quality long term players.

It must have been a particularly strong draft - I count 24 of 56 have played at least 1 seniors game for their club.
