You do. I don't have to meet every freo supporter to know that. Just the ones at the football and bigfooty are enough of a sample.
You don't need to meet every pie fan to know about the missing teeth and the stolen cutlery.
If you think otherwise, at least clear out your BF board from the crazies and the nutters from your forum to show sincerity. Your board's mods are complicit in tolerating such idiocy.
Yeh you kind of have to. and no, the handful of regular posters on this little forum don't reflect the tens of thousands of our actual supporter base. Take a statistics class.

For the simple reason that he retired players without speaking to them and was negotiating with Freo when we were still in the finals. That does not sit well with me. However I let it all go last round. Go any Victorian side (or side that used to be).Lyon when coaching st Kilda took it as high as it could since 1997, ie 14-15 years. Tough, it didn't work out.
Now he's gone - I wish him luck for all games except ones against st kilda.
Why be bitter against him?

Serious questions to all saints fans.
I can understand your dislike of Ross Lyon on how he left. But lets just say if the saints won one if not both of those flags in 2009 and 2010.
If Ross Lyon left in the end of 2011 and guided the saints to a flag in that 2008-2010 period, would there be less bitterness towards Ross Lyon?
Hell If Ross Lyon guided Freo to the 2013 flag and left 2 years later after serving his contract I wouldn't be bitter. I still wouldn't be bitter if he walked out after the 2015 season after 4 years of finals and that does say a bit about Freos lack of success.
Ross Lyon wanted a 4 year deal to stay with us. He knew where we were at and what would be required in the future. He wanted security and time to rebuild. The club - rightly or wrongly - would not commit to his terms... we were not travelling too well at the start of 2011, so fair enough. BUT he had just taken us to successive GF's, but despite this, the club still dithered.
If they wanted him to stay they should have signed him asap. Given the club's non- committal / acceptance of a 4 year deal at the time, he looked elsewhere.
Apart from Lynch, which delisted kids are killing it at AFL level???? People should stop finding reasons to justify their own anger IMO.
He is a brilliant coach and we let him go. He owed us nothing. Apart from a flag, he pretty much fulfilled his brief at the club.
There is some pretty harsh , emotive language used on here. But I bet if he was your son / sibling etc, you would have said - good on you, for what he did.
I don't often agree with GT, but he was 100% spot on when he observed that if the club wanted him to stay, they could have done more to keep him.
Happens every day in business.
Well I for one cannot believe the deficit this country is in. It's Abbot's fault - there is no such thing a a legacy of inherited sub par performance - okay Tony, I mean Scott....!You know I was blaming Abbott for todays blackout in Victoria...But now I might have to re-think that.
Some very good points and I think you are right. But I did had the way he left us. Still, as I said, made my peace with this and I will be happy for my long suffering Freo mates if they win. Not so much for RL and ZD, just cannot help it!Ross Lyon wanted a 4 year deal to stay with us. He knew where we were at and what would be required in the future. he looked elsewhere, all the while indicating to the club that he was going to re-sign.
Respect R Lyon the coach. Do not respect the way he went about it.
No other coach, to my knowledge has orchestrated their own deal -- all the while indicating to his management team & the existing club he was good to sign.
I agree, sir! He should have gone about it the way clubs remove coaches. I like their refreshing honesty and the way they let the coaches know a long time in advance.
