As a Dees supporter you should know that statement is clearly false.

Losing at Etihad
4-6 week injuries lasting 12
Losing critical games to just miss the eight/miss the 4
Losing to West Coast
Losing to Geelong in Geelong

So with what's left of the Saints team on paper, where are their perceived strengths and weaknesses? How will that line up against our new possession style football?
I hear that Roberton and Savage go alright. A mate of mine that is a saint supporters was telling me that they are very promising. Schnieder is getting on, but is still pretty good too.

Nick is a weakness for them - I see Tommy Mac dominating him again.

Other weaknesses would be the rest of their team.

Another strength would be their hairdresser. I noticed David Armitage has a new sleek short back and sides that should improve his speed and aerobic capacity.

Still worried about Maister.

Shortening all the time. Now at $1.60. Come game day we could be under $1.50. I don't want to even know the last time we had this sort of price against another Vic side let alone at Etihad.

$2.30

$2.12

$1.72

$1.60

Why? He's got not hands. If Frawley is in along with Tommy, Dunn , Terlich and (hopefully) georgie (if elevated), I reckon we'll have their forwards locked down.

Because every time we play St.Kilda he kicks St.Kilda's winning margin.

Obligatory bag against us for Maister, thankfully that shouldn't kill us, though our defence is really too good for that to continue happening.

Maybe they should promote Nev Jetta and tell him his only hope of survival is to run through maister and knock him out

I would think that after the last couple of years if the game is moderately close against Melbourne you could feel a win. Therefore I would say as simple a strategy it sounds is blow them out of the water early. Their injury or suspension list seems to be growing so I'm not too sure exactly who will line up, but I would focus on locking down Armitage and stopping Robertons run from the back line. Also try and keep Riewoldts confidence down, but other than that, attack attack attack I say.

Those odds make me nervous more than anything.
True.

At least when we lost in the past nobody lost money on us in the process as well. Potential here to turn everyone against us haha.

But, ya gotta believe in something I suppose.

Its ok guys... Work is sending me to Melbourne for the week of round one and i will be stepping foot in to Jihad/Docklands for the first time ever (i am a true Melbourne supporter). Its a sign!

Plus im flying to Mel the next week for a wedding (yay round 2) and will be going to my local game in round 3!

Good news and bad news confirming what we already knew clark definitely out and dawes jamar doubtful. On the positive side viney will play the hawks and if all goes well will play round 1. Last thing I wanted was extra pressure on hogan but those seem the cards weve been dealt. Still a better hand than the saints imo

See you there for round 3!

Forward line of Fitzy, Hogan and Howe Isn't too bad, Watts can also play down there if needed.

Fitzy should play in that case and, dare I say it, maybe even Pedo? Have him as the workhorse, Hogan and Fitzy deeper? Assuming Howe, Fitzy and Hogan are our 3 main targets we should be able to get 2 goals each (at least) from all of them. Vince, Watts and Jones can get goals. JKH should be able to get a couple. Bail has been pretty handy as a forward in PS too.
Our midfield will definitely have to get on top and push forward to add to our scoring power, but that's worked pretty well in the NAB games and against a depleted Saints midfield shouldn't be too much to ask.

Is Mitch Clarke injured is he? Seems he always is. He can't have played much more than a dozen games at Melbourne. I was hoping he would take advantage of the Saints back line.

15 (in 3 of which he has been subbed due to injury) games for 36 goals.
