Now we have playd our last practice game and know the injuries etc (hopefully we don't get anymore injuries between now and round 1) here's my starting lineup for round 1:

FB: Thornton Jamison Grigg
HB: Bower Waite Scotland
C: Jackson Murphy Simpson
HF: Gibbs Edwards Houlihan
FF: Kruzer Feva Betts
RR: Cloke Judd Stevens

B: Haddley, Carrazzo, Hartlett, Pfeiffer

Emg: Armfeild, Browne, Bannister

With Walker now out i can see Jackson taking over his roll to a certain extent, put the boy on the wing and let him run his opponent ragged all day long. Toss up between harlett and Edwards for mine for HF but with fish out i don't see the harm having them both in the side but i guess will depnd on match ups with the tigers. Haddley & Carots to start on the bench but to be involved majorly in the midfeild rotations along with gibbs and maybe they should tthrough betts in there for a few bursts like last year he seemed to be really good in there. Cloke and Kreuzer to share the ruck duties whislt young Hammo is out. Pfeiffer to add some hardness perhaps into the backline when he gets his chance and maybe release a thornton forward or a grigg or scotland into the midfeild rotations.

Ahhh could talk about this all day and so can't wait for next rhusday to arrive.

FB: Grigg, Jamison, Thornton
HB: Bower, Waite, Houlihan
C: Gibbs, Murphy, Scotland
HF: Jackson, Edwards, Simpson
FF: Hadley, Fevola, Hartlett
RR: Kreuzer Judd, Stevens

B: Cloke, Carrazzo, Betts, Pfeiffer

I reckon we should put our best foot forward from the word go, get out to a nice strong lead as early as possible. Now fancy buisness, just a few handballs to the HF line, low and hard deliveries onto the chest of the like of Fevola, Hartlett and Edwards.

I want to see Edwards start at CHF, Fevola at FF and Hartlett in the forward pocket, but I want them to move about, never in the same position (e.g, Hartlett moving to FF, Fevola to CHF, Edwards to FP, Edward to FF, Hartlett to CHF, etc.), confuse the backline and leave them in disoray. Not leading, just jogging or walking from position to position. Then, when the Tigers think they have it covered, the men at FF and the FP both lead in opposite directionsat the same time , for example, the RFP player leading to the opposing Forward Flank, and the FF player leading out to the Right Forward Flank, leaving the two Tigers defenders to have to weave out of the way from their team mate, ultimately causing if not two, one of the defenders to be halted and a free man leading to an open space (as the HF line should be pushing the field slightly to get involved in the action, essential for the play). If both aren't an option after running back to their positions and doing it all again, the man playing at CHF should run back to the goal square, the kick over both the Blues and Tigers players heads, to the advantage of the Blue.

It makes sence to me:) (just another one of my wacky plays!).

FB: Grigg, Jamison, Thornton

HF: Jackson, Edwards, Simpson
FF: Hadley, Fevola, Hartlett

EBIAC, I am glad to see that someone has Pfeiffer in the team round 1.
From what I have heard & seen in NAB Cup, I think Pfeiffer has done really well & shown a bit. I really think he will do well against the Tiges.

Not sure if Pfeiffer is at the peak of his fitness.....looked to be labouring at the end of the Ants game and came off with a dickie groin ealry in the last....on form he would be close though.

Jeez, I didn't about that one myself, hopefully the boy is at the peak of his fitness soon.

Alright, we'll go:
FB: Grigg, Jamison, Thornton
HB: Bower, Waite, Houlihan
C: Gibbs, Murphy, Scotland
HF: Jackson, Edwards, Simpson
FF: Hadley, Fevola, Hartlett
RR: Kreuzer Judd, Stevens

B: Cloke, Carrazzo, Betts, Armfield

Not trolling...

Just a couple of questions:
- Why isn't Setanta O'Halpin in any of these sides?
- Who is Jamison?
- Do you think Kruezer can play second ruck?
- Cloke ahead of Ackland?

Setanta had a variation of Ross River Fever, still isn't 100% and has lost a bit of weight and shouldn't play in Round 1

Jamison is a rookie, he played late last year and is our full back, coming along nicely.

Kreuzer wont start, but yes, is capable of playing second ruck, as shown against the Doggies, with 16 possessions.

Definitely Cloke ahead of Ackland, if things go well, Ackland will play with the Ants all season. Once we get Hampson back, Hampson and Cloke will share the ruck duties and we can slowly give Kreuzer stints in the ruck, but play him predominantly as a forward. (but as I said before, he still can play the 2nd ruck role)

B: Grigg, Jamison, Thornton

HF: Murphy, Edwards, Houlihan
F: Betts, Fevola, Hartlett

I: Kruezer, Jackson, Russel, Hadley

Richmond's forward line this NAB cup has consisted of brown petifer polak deledio and richo and maybe pattison shultz or simmonds go down for rests or depending on match ups down back. Both Bower and Thornton can play small. I would like to see Jamison play on richo as his has a good size about him and should be a good test for him, Thornton on petifer, Grigg on Brown, Bower on Delideo Waite on polak and Scotland to pick up the spare, more rebounding and havin stints in the middle. I would like to also see this season our midfeild pushing down to help out the backs.

Through the Middle i would see Kane johnson tagging judd, Carrazo to match it with Foley and Steven's to go head to head with Tuck. Carlton now has also got a bit of depth in the midfeild and i would like to see much more rotations with the likes of Jackson, Gibbs, Scotland, Murphy to be swapping with Judd, Steven's and Carrazo. Cloke would have a big job against Simmonds and Kruezer would need to help out when he can.

In the forward line i can see thursefield to take Fev, Moore to take edwards and Shultz to take Hartlett, Richmond have got very skillfull and quick running defenders in the likes of king, bowden, newman and raines so we need to apply alot of pressure from our forwards early to not allow them to continually run the ball out.

Most Carlton supporters think thhat Richmond will be an easy round 1 match up as they have not been in good form through out the nab cup, but round 1 is a whole different storey and richmond are near full strength and have a lot of run and carry in there side and are capable of a good perfrmance. Fingers crossed Carlton are capable of better and judd has 40 touches fev kicks 8 and Jamison holds Richo goalless. Bring on thurseday!! cant wait! :thumbsu:

surely russell cant get a game guys, are you just adding him to the bench for a lack of interest when it comes to that part of your side. pfeiffer has to be a better option. Or even a bannister, what has russell shown?

Personally I feel that if Jamison and one of Hartlett or Edwards come through Setanta has no spot in our 22, even at full fitness. The only time I could see him get a spot in the backline is if we play a squad with multiple dangerous tall forwards, i.e. Hawthorn. This is also assuming that Waite is permanently played back.

Also, I don't think that we could carry both Hartlett and Edwards if we play Kreuzer forward. I assume Ackland and Cloke will get the ruck duties.

Anyways this is the way I think we should line up round 1.

B: Grigg, Jamison, Thornton
HB: Bower, Waite, Scotland
C: Gibbs, Carrazzo, Simpson
HF: Murphy, Edwards/Hartlett, Houlihan
F: Betts, Fevola, Kreuzer
R: Cloke, Judd, Stevens
I: Ackland (If fit), Jackson, Russell, Hadley

If Houlihan plays on a HBF, I would put Russell at HFF and Bower to start on the bench.

Do you think Bannister would be better suited to maybe Deledio or Pettifer, as pettifer has been in better form then brown over pre season. also is wiggo a chance come thurseday??

firstly petiffer is rubbish, but yes delidio worries me up forward with his pace on the lead. hopefully having bower (my preffered matchup) on him and thornton/scotty chopping in should work. Brown is still the proven performer. Moves can be made however, maybe jackson heading down or even....houla?:eek:

and you wouldnt think so for wiggo. too slow down back, and harts/eddy preffered up forward

Jamison, O' Hailpin, Thornton

Walker, Bower, Grigg

Simpson, Stevens, Gibbs

Edwards, Waite, Fisher

Betts, Fevola, Kreuzer

Hampson, Judd, Murphy

Inter, Houlihan, Cloke, Russell, Hartlett

This is a pretty tough choice because thankfully plenty of our kids have put their hand up which is very exciting for the future.

B Bret Thornton, Michael Jamison, Paul Bower
HB Heath Scotland, Jarrad Waite, Darren Pfeiffer
C Kade Simpson, Andrew Carrazzo, Marc Murphy
HF Jake Edwards, Adam Hartlett, Bryce Gibbs
F Ryan Houlihan, Brendan Fevola, Matthew Kruezer
R Cameron Cloke, Chris Judd, Nick Stevens
Int Eddie Betts, Shaun Hampson, Ryan Jackson, Setanta O'hAilpin

A few notes:
-If Bannister is in the side I have only one question, has a coach ever been sacked after one game?
-Hampson is fit and Carlton consider him likely to be available for Round 1
-The only reason Setanta isn't in the starting 18 is because of his illness
-Hadley will get a chance eventually but I'd like to see him get a bit of fitness in the twos before getting a game
-I don't rate Russell so he didn't get a spot, but Grigg was very unlucky.
