I agree that Pav was manhandled all day and got zip from the umpires.

Margetts was an absolute pr!ck while umpiring our F50 on Saturday. Let a few absolutely clear-as-day arm chops and in-the-backs go that would have resulted in shots on goal in good positions. During the third term in particular, from memory.

Farmer has been better when umpiring us recently, but Margetts was living up to his reputation.

I Like his strength over the ball and his skills so far but not as impressed with his speed over the ground or repeat efforts.

I've been impressed with both of these.

He drifted out of the game in the second half, but he was very good with pressure and his use of the ball in the first half. His goal was a case in point. A heavy tackle in our forward 50 to turn the ball over... then got up and outside the contest to receive the handoff, and a nice snap to goal.

May still be building his conditioning, but I'd like to see him get another run next week. I think he did enough to earn his spot for next week.

Yes his tackle and get the ball back was a great piece of play, I just didn't think we saw too many examples of that sort of effort. But, got to admit, I was pretty blinded by the sun for most of the day!!

Melbourne in Darwin is not an easy game. Melbourne have been improved a lot this year, and they almost beat Port in Alice Springs.

Does anyone know how good Tio Stadium is? If the ground is of poor standard then I don't want to play Morabito.

sliced and diced reported that the ground has a very good surface and is definitely at afl standard.

Atmospheric conditions mightnt be much fun though.

Might also be slippery as f*ck considering the start time.

Even if the weather is fine it might end up dewy after sundown... and we could stay with a smaller forward and back line to retain the extra runners.

This game is a mini-(albeit very mini)danger game for us. Melbourne have been an improved side this year under Roos and I've got not idea what to expect at TIO Stadium. Melbourne played well against Port who looked completely lost at Alice Springs although that's no indicator of how we'd fare.

I think we'll be fine; although it would be ideal to get at least ONE of McPharlin, Johnson or Silvagni back. Taberner battled courageously but he's not made for the back 22.

I'd say expect one of the most defensive games of footy ever witnessed. Don't be surprised if it's a nil all draw.

We should be fine for the next month if they are serious about playing in the big dance again at seasons end.

It would be funny though if Port winning that game put them 1st and Freo 4th and Lyon decided that would be more advantageous than facing either Sydney or Hawthorn.

Reminiscent of when we were criticised for beating North by too much because we were condemning ourselves to a certain finals loss against Geelong in Melbourne instead of facing the eagles at Subi.

Before the game I pointed him out to my brother and said 'watch that guy give us absolutely nothing all day'. He didn't let me down.

Just had a listen to Ross on 6pr, sounded like he was extremely impressed with Sylvia. Would be surprised if he was dropped this week.

Sylvia has the one touch grab/quality ball use of a top five pick. With the same application as someone like deBoer our team will be hugely improved... But he needs to bring the application.

Port experimented against Melbourne and rested their players to boot.

Maybe Ross is sick of it but he gets very cranky now when asked about Morabito. Tonight when asked if Mora was a chance for Sylvia's spot he said they are nothing like each other & are competing for different spots. He described Sylvia as a power forward while saying Anthony sees himself as a winger inside mid. For whatever the reason I don't think he's keen to have Mora in the side at this stage of things.

While we're on umpires I read some stats and we have received the 2nd lowest amount of free kicks this season.

It must suck for Stephen Hill to be keeping you out of the side.

Think it'll get ugly this week. Like the way you guys play (The too defensive stuff is rubbish, commentators just sook when a game is 90-40 rather than 130-90 and hope you do well this year (Excluding this week!).

Would expect it to be a big test of fitness for both teams, how does your mob usually run out games in Darwin? You guys did well against Port in the Alice but not really similar conditions.
