Bolts seemed to be gritting his teeth over Harry's selection a little.

Suggested he's not really ready for AFL but we're playing him anyway.

Hinted we're playing him more for PR purposes than merit based.

Maybe I'm reading too much into his comments, but I suspect Bolts was overruled on Harry's selection.
I think we just ran out of players with Ed, Marchbank, Cripps and others injured. Then the MC and perhaps Bolta too said why keep playing Sumner and Boeky ... We have Willa and Cuningham back ...

Not sure how well the forward line works with Casboult, McKay, Jack and Charlie with our slow ball movement.

Perhaps Harry rotates off the bench with Casboult and Jack (or goes forward when Casboult rucks) and Charlie pushes up onto the wing.

And with our VFL lacking in players, the view might be that Harry just won't develop playing VFL and will develop playing seniors.

Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

I hope Jamo's missus has the phone at the ready again!

Yep, I feel the same way as Bolts to be honest.

Fully expecting to lose this one. We have been shocking against Brisbane recently and they are playing decent footy of late. No obvious match-up for Zorko who could get off the chain and hit the scoreboard hard. Harris Andrews an extremely difficult first-up opponent for Harry, reads it very well in the air. I feel like our boys are tired and the season is effectively over, will be happy with a few more green shoots.

That said, go Blues! :)

Three weeks ago we pushed Adelaide all the way & only lost by 12 points (we saw what they did to Geelong on Friday night).
Two weeks ago we shot ourselves in the foot against another Top 8 team in Melbourne, losing by less than 2 kicks & last week, despite playing very ordinary football & losing 3 players to injury during the game, we only lost by 20 points against the reigning premiers.

We are coming up against a team who has suffered 12 losses by in excess of 30 points (their lowest losing margin has been 27 points) & who have lost 4 of their last 5 games by an average of 54 points. I'm not sure on what basis you can decree that Brisbane "are playing decent footy of late" & that we are looking tired. We have been unfortunate with injuries during recent games, but despite this, we have been getting into winning positions against better teams than Brisbane, who sit on the bottom of the ladder for a reason.

I cant see Harry being less developed physically ( despite his height) than Jack or SPS or Fisher or Pickett or Macreadie for example. Why is he less physically developed than the Brisbane teenagers and first year players?

What he doesn't have is any idea of how hard he has to push himself to make any impact in an AFL game. I'm looking forward to seeing whether he has a football brain - because quite frankly Casboult is the definition of a one dimensional boof in our forward line. I don't expect Harry to score a goal today, but wouldn't be surprised if he kicked 3-4 either - I do expect him to make some tackles and draw some defenders away from Casboult and vica versa.

Not a buyer of the Bolton was told to play him - not for one second do I believe that is the case - however I think Bolton is keen to remove any great expectations regarding Harry's debut and ability to impact in AFL games at this stage of his career- he needs like most of the 1-2 year recruits time to develop and if has any class what so ever- AFL is a good place to accelerate this development.

If I was coach I'd start Harry on the bench and then put him in straight into the ruck just to get a feel for the pace of the game. Played in a senior team once with a champion full forward In finals they'd start him at CHB or in the ruck for the first 5-10 mins so he'd get his hands on the ball a few time with not much pressure then throw him back up forward. Worked a treat.

Fair enough, I actually thought Brisbane had been better than that recently (I watched them v Richmond and thought they played well). You're confident of a win today? We'll see what transpires...

If we bring what we have brought for most of the last 2 months (the Richmond game aside), we have Brisbane covered.

What you posted was Malthouse-esque "Make no mistake, Brisbane are a very good side."

I think we have developed our game plan a bit better than brisbane, who probably are a better physical side..however Bolts is now our coach and we play as a team.I also think we have the Lions covered...if not by our list then our game style.I think we can play 4 quarters today and i think Brisbane will struggle to dismantle our defense even with guys such as Hipwood running around.I think they will get to inside 50 but no further today and hopefully we can kick a few goals ..

I dont see why we cant kick 100 points today and win.

Alternatively, perhaps Bolton is playing some psychology on young Harry:

"Bolts doesn't think I'm ready. **** that!"

Hopefully we will play a 'stay' home forward all game...now there's a thought!
