Would love to see Cuts get a run at half forward.
And Allison would provide a bit of run from the back half/wing.

Out: Rich, Bell

In: Bastinac, Cutler

I’m hoping it was just the first game back that affected Walker. Even though he isn’t incredibly talented, he did play well the second half of last year and we no one in the reserves is a clear cut options to replace.

About Bell, I want to say it in the nicest way possible. I did not really expect him to be in the side for round one. He is not the best player and honestly I would rather bring in Bastinac who played the second half of last year great as well. Bastinac is not a certainty, I’d be happy with Matho or always coming in as well.

Rich is injured which is really sad. Cutler seems to be the favourite to replace. I’m fine with that, there is also Cox but he seems to have gotten off to a bit of a lacklustre start.

Was Rich playing down back before he got injured?

Bells size just doesn't correlate to how we think he should play. I can't recall any big hits or tackles from him yesterday, if he's not doing them then someone else needs to be playing. Just can't see him changing from the player he has always been since he's been with us. Disappointing far too often.

Fox footy showed footage of Walker grimacing, limping and grabbing at his groin...

Assuming Rich and Walker come up and Matho is injured. Turnovers continue to be a problem, they have been for many years. Need more class, no skills no makey team.

Would imagine Robbo in trouble for forearm to head.....in the Beast if fit. 2s won by 143 pts so probably a few hands raised for promotion.

The 2s winning even a practice match by margin of 143 is a significant factor in what is wrong with our team. Because they are so dominant the players are basically just doing a training drill and not getting pushed and learning in these reserves games. It means they are underdone when they hit the 1s and have too much to learn all at once and the team game suffers.

We need a better competition for the 2s or the opportunity for Afl based neafl teams (who all have the same depth problem) to play against the reserves of the Melbourne clubs a few times each year.

The neafl is 21 rounds with 3 byes so maybe use these weekends to play Melbourne teams. Coordinating would be difficult but definitely worth it for improving the elite competition.

Out: Rich, Walker(Assuming both inj)
In: Cutler, Ballenden

Gardiner Andrews Hodge
Mayes McStay Witherden

Taylor Beams McCluggage

Robinson Hipwood Christensen
Cameron Ballenden Lester

Foll:Martin, Zorko, Robertson

Bell, Rayner, Berry, Cutler
.Looking at the emergencies ,Ballenden may well debut.

If he can change from being part of the blues bash brothers to a soft player at the Lions he can turn back into a crazed maniac. He has his bash brother Robinson with him here... No reason why he can't find the mongrel again.

Reckon it depends on how he played/trained in the reserves. Not against it, but no need to rush him in.

I wouldn't be against running a smaller forward line and put Cutler in Walkers place. It's not like we're hitting up targets anyway.

Everyone is getting Bells possibilities and probabilities mixed up. He is too old to change his spots. Yesterday just confirmed for me that he is not up to it, I would rather throw Baily or Starcevitch in at the deep end than waste more games on him.

I'm concerned re Zorko and the comments from the ground that it wasn't just a case of being tagged out. That's the quietest I can recall him being and losing him would be a disaster for both the games he misses and the development of the young ones. Need as much classy experience on ground as we can muster.

Not sure what everyone's fascination with Cutler is tbh. Never really shown anything that screams AFL quality, and fwiw he has been playing forward in the NEAFL, at least he did in the game last week, so make of that what you will. I'd be happier with Bailey coming up if the opportunity arose

??? Care to elaborate Gadz? Do you have more concerns than an odd bad game or being underdone?

He's not injured. He's fit for selection (confirmed by his mum on Facebook).
