Well we are heading down on Wed and have 13 of the family are all going to the game Sat night up in the nose bleed seats.

Mother in-laws 80th and we are taking my father in-law to likely watch his last live game.

Hopefully we show a bit more fight than last night.

Saving grace was we had my sons 21st last night so only saw updates throught the night.

We are missing waterman badly.

The realisation that is setting in this season is, Waterman probably isn't it either.

He just doesn't play enough games. He has never played a full season. 22 and 24 he played 20 games. Every other year we can only expect him for half a season.
But hey, we re signed him till 29🤷

Man we were blessed with JK and JDs durability

He played a bit of WAFL in a few of those seasons. Not all due to injury.

I’m glad some of you lot aren’t selectors. Insane so many are dropping the guy who led our disposals (with 80% efficiency), led our score involvements, top 5 in intercepts, gave a heap of run and was 3rd in our player rankings. Hard to shake being a scapegoat from moron “supporters” I guess no matter how well you perform.

Anyway:
Out: Kelly; In: Hewett
Out: Owies; In: Champion
Out: Bazzo; In: Brock

I’d keep Jack Williams in despite his horror game last night as think you’ll get that from young guys and he has shown plenty at other times this year.

Only keeping Petch to have a look at before (probable) delist but wouldn’t be upset if he was left out for either Newton to make a debut or Owies stays in instead of Petch.

Yep, missed most of his rookie season (2017) with a foot injury but since then, apart from that career-threatening illness in 2023 the only extended time he’d missed through injury prior to this year was four weeks with a broken hand in 2020.

Love Jack but he needs to go. I want to give Livingston a go. Kids an an honest trier.

Also I think Grego and Allen should come in this week

Out:Tk, Jilliams, Owies, Cole, Hutch, petch
In Hewett, Livo, Allen, Grego, Gross, Champion

So, changes eh?

Most essential change: Sandleford Brock in.
Most obvious change: Jack "Big donuts" Williams out.
Most predictable change: Archer Reid in.
Most deserved change: Tom Gross in.
Most impossible changes that won't happen but should: Tom Cole out Bo Allan in. Tim Kelly out.

Kelly out, Hewett in
Owies out, Gross in
Petrol out, Chesser in
Basso out, Brock in
Either B or J Williams out, A Reid in

Seen enough of Owies to say he is a bust, for now. Gross may not be a forward but he can't do worse than Owies.

Chesser has been playing well in the WAFL, and we need to give him another go before his contract expires.

We have seen enough of Petrol over the years to know his capabilities.
Cheeser playing well in the WAFL?

One mediocre game in 4 years.

The Jack Williams experiment isn't working but he is a better player than Bailey Williams. Drop Bailey, bring in another runner.
Right now he is not. Jack may have more talent(?) but Bailey is far more mobile, tries his guts out and is passable as second ruck. Jack seems to have gone backwards. Not sure why. Late last season he looked like he'd really come on this season.

Biggest change for mine is effort and mentality.

Freo hate pressure. Collingwood today had them on toast up until they took the foot off the gas in the last and tried to coast - then lo and behold, the Dockers suddenly looked a million bucks and got up.

If we bring the pressure and can sustain it for most of the game, it should at least be a respectable scoreline.

Doesn’t help that he’s now getting a much better defender in the absence of Waterman, Allen and Darling.

Out: Owies, Kelly, Hutchinson, J.Williams, Bazzo, Cole, B.Williams

In: Champion, Gross, Greggo, A.Reid, Brock, Hewett, Allen(sub as a mid)

Petch plays as a midfielder.

Kelly >> Hewett - more picking and choosing when to give a shit from Timothy.

Owies >> Long/Champion - don’t mind who.

Bazzo >> Brock - probably have seen enough of Bazzo for him to earn another look next year. Things were going well with Brock in the side, get him back in.

Jilliams >> Livingstone - Can’t be having zero stats in nearly 3 quarters of footy. Have a look at Coen and see if there’s something to work with there.

Petch >> Gross - with Hutch to sub.

As I predicted in the match day thread there are people wanting to drop Bailey Williams in order to persist with Flynn and Donuts Williams because feels. To my eye Bailey has been much improved hitting up players of late, imo basically a function of Harley and Hall starting to figure out how to win CBA's rather than Bailey changing his game all that much.

Just looking through the ruck ratings and to my surprise Bailey is actually one of the form tap ruck's over the last month or so.

Winning 47% of ruck contests, hitouts to advantage 31% which has him sitting in between Darcy Cameron and Luke Jackson. Jackson is the only player younger than him winning more hitouts but Bailey is marginally ahead of him to advantage.

I'd seriously recommend having a look through the names currently ranked bellow him for ruck craft, just for the lols. Also just an fyi his goal conversion is at 58% which shits on our small forwards by some margin and is level with Jack Williams. Going alright is Bailey. Not bad for a kid who'll never make it as a forward or a ruckman at AFL level. But yeah let's sell the farm for Cameron and give up on him while we still can, everyone knows ruckman are cooked once they get to 25.

Edit: Lol, look at what Tom De Koning has been up to recently. I guess Bailey can look forward to some of that Harley money when he hits free agency next year eh?

Best stat there is CCJ’s player rating of -1.10.

Newton to replace Owies, from what I've seen in the WAFL the kid is a very good finisher.

If the kid can kick 45m then this is a no brainier call

Newton has shown a bit in the WAFL.

Only on a 6 month contract.

He should get a game simply to find out if he is up to the level and also reward his efforts.

Obvious sub.
