it's not completely ridiculous to suggest that Doc and Jerry Biglands should be rested....

but given the rhett-oric from the club this week - it seems they are intent on playing the best 22 available..
I'm going to request that Mad Dog gets a temporary suspension from this board for that awful pun. :p

Also, to put this whole emergency thing into context here is a list of players who are fit and are not emergencies this week:

Jonathon Griffin
Ivan Maric
Alan Obst
Darren Pfeiffer
Bernie Vince (very underdone though)

I'm pretty sure that's everyone.

For the life of me I can’t understand why Biglands retains his spot, his last month has been unacceptable.

I’m also a little bit annoyed Bassett is playing

hmmmm - 2 ruckmen as emergencies

one will definately play......

who would think I was mental if I said that both might play ???

;)

with all the other sore spots to other players - they wouldn't waste 2 emergencies on ruckmen unless something was up

Yep. I agree, there is some sound logic here imo.

I agree but IMHO, if anyone does come into the side, I think it will be Meesen.

Why else would they name Meesen ahead of Maric who has had better overall SANFL form.

I wouldn't mind seeing Meesen debut as I think he could offer us a bit as a mobile HFF who can ruck a bit. He moves well for a big man and that could somewhat replace Hentschel's mobility in the forward line.

Meesen has spent maybe 5% of the season in the forward line, if he comes into the side there is no way he would play up forward. He is a ruckman, if he comes into the side, it will be because he is required to help out in the ruck. It's that simple.

Yeah and Scott Stevens has played all the games as a forward with the Magpies and if he ever comes into the Crows side he will do so as a forward and not a backman ;)

I have no doubt that if Meesen is brought into the side, he will see quite a bit of time as a forward.

Even in the tial game against Norwood at the start fothis year, he spent more time across HF than in the ruck ;)

I can still remember that goal he kicked - wonderful snap.

Sometimes a little thing like that is just enough to show you what a player can do.

Ok let me put it this way.

Is he ready to play as a key forward? Heck no.

Clearer? :)

Yes but is he ready to play as a 3rd tall forward? Quite possibly. He is agile enough and fit enough to play as a flanker.
There are so many things going on right now. I have rumours galore. ;)

Anyway, IF we needed someone down there to replace Hentschel and to support Perrie and Welsh, then he could be the man. But I wouldn’t expect too much from him, he’s been used primarily as a ruckman this season, I can think of only a couple of games where he has spent time up forward. Yes he is fit and agile enough to play as a forward, but to be honest I don’t think he would fare too well. If Clarke misses, bring in the Meese to help out with the ruck duties, but I would be hesitant to include him as a key forward. But I just want to see him stay next season, and if giving him games with the Crows is the deciding factor, let the boy play anywhere! :p

If Meesen comes in it would be for Biglands but it doesnt make sense because as Drummond pointed out he is more comfortable as a ruck option and Biglands would be comfortable as the forward option...but I cant see Clarke getting dropped  My brain hurts

I really don't think you need to worry too much, I think its called cloak and daggers ;)

You want my honest opinion? I think Meesen is playing, here is why.

In the paper today it said Clarke is in doubt, he has general soreness. For the Norwood side, there are two inclusions, and only one out. Tim Nicholas, the backup ruckman who has been out of the side for about 4 weeks now, has been brought back into the side. Could he be taking over from Meesen? ;)

Norwood:

In: Nicholas, James
Out: DeVries

Interesting, although DeVries is also a ruckman... :( :p
