There's two separate things at play though.

Are we still in a great position to win the flag? Yes, because we won.

Did we play terribly and got out of jail big time? Also yes



I think all four teams did the same thing: got complacent and played like shit against a poor team, thinking they would easily win.

We aren't the only side that succumbs to that problem.

Sometimes the good teams are so complacent and arrogant they lose. Like Gold Coast against Richmond earlier in the year.

And in the reverse we used to do that to other teams in the 2021 era. They wouldn't rock up and we'd ambush them.

Just because we had this issue doesn't mean it was inevitable. It was pretty clear from Thilthorpe's... shaky interview after the game that we didn't expect West Coast to play that well, and that's on us for underpreparing

Hes a straight line runner, even watching him in the SANFL midfield he wins the ball due to being faster and stronger, but its straight lines.

A win like this is great leading into finals. Get challenged, gives the club a lot to think about and work on with no damage done.
In my own footy world this is exactly what happened to Sturt against South last week, this week we smashed WWT.
Let’s judge Adelaide on how they rebound and what they learn from a totally sub par performance next week.

We were on a flight from Oslo to Bodo and had two fifteen minute slots of free internet. There was a kid screaming its lungs out, the plane did an aborted landing due to poor visibility or whatever reason, then had to circle around, crows were losing and it was ridiculously stressful! Got our hire car and sat listening to the game until it was over! Thank **** for that!

West Coast pressure rating was over 230 for a while and been over 200 all game.
The ability to stand up to pressure. That is the key. Might have been ugly and not the 10 goal win but we got the job done under elite pressure yet again. Finals footy!

Another way to view that is that when we are placed under finals pressure, our game deteriorates so far that even the bottom side can almost beat us.

How are we going to go when a good side puts that kind of pressure on us?
