So I'm not sure if there's already been another thread posted about this, but I can't understand the AFL's logic for the round 23 fixture. Why have we been given a Sunday twilight game in Perth when it's already guaranteed we'll be playing finals the next week whereas there's two dead rubbers in Essendon v Carlton and Gold Coast and Port Adelaide being played on the Saturday. Am I missing something here?

Friday August 26
Adelaide v West Coast Eaagles - Adelaide Oval - 7:40pm

Saturday August 27
Geelong v Melbourne - Simonds Stadium - 1:45pm
Essendon v Carlton - MCG - 2:10pm
Sydney Swans v Richmond - SCG - 4:35pm
North Melbourne v GWS Giants - Etihad Stadium - 7:25pm
Gold Coast Suns v Port Adelaide - Metricon Stadium - 7:25pm

Sunday August 28
St Kilda v Brisbane Lions - Etihad Stadium - 1:10pm
Hawthorn v Collingwood - MCG - 3:20pm
Fremantle v Western Bulldogs - Domain Stadium - 4:40pm

Certainly not a great time slot for travelling fans though, they could've at least thought about that. Have it on a Saturday so VICs can fly back to Melbourne on Sunday?

It's not like Carlton and Essendon fans have to fly to watch that game. Same with Geelong and Melbourne.

Travelling fans are way down the priority list when it comes to fixturing at the AFL.
TV broadcaster is top dog and everyone else can suit themselves.

What day is our game the week before? Maybe they didn't want us traveling to Perth on a 6 day break in the final round.

We requested a Sunday game in round 23, as we are playing Essendon in the Sunday twilight timeslot in round 22.
Hawthorn also requested a Sunday game in round 23 - they play in Perth in round 22 and wanted a longer break leading into their round 23 fixture.

Why is this thread not closed already? Every one of the finals teams gets a week off before the first week of finals. So, it's not even an issue!
