If Hawthorn come 1 or 4 and you guys stay in 8th then really the winner of your elim final will in all likelihood get wacked in the semi coming off a 2 day less break especially if it's a showdown will be impossible. You guys need the hawks to come 2 or 3.

3pm is apparently an "early" timeslot haha...

Don't mind it, it means an 8 day break from the R22 game at Hobart vs NM, probably means a Sunday final if we qualify.

well nice to see the AFL doing us no favours in the event we do make the finals.
We've done ourselves no favour on this one..
We are the lowest ranked team in the 8 or possible to make the 8, and our opponent won't be playing finals doesn't help it also, we will also be playing at home so no travelling, no surprise we got the Sunday..

If we qualify, will probably get a Sunday final anyway..

Showdown Sunday Elimination Final at 4.10?

"Cos the fans love twilight footy"

Showdown final would be great but I'm not sure I'd like to see us lose our home ground advantage...
If we are 7th or 8th, we won't be getting a home final..
So a Showdown final could still occur that way as Port's home game, or else it would be someone like North or Essendon in Melbourne we would play..

Even though it would be Port's home game, tickets will (should) be available to all members of both clubs at the same time.. That's what happened for the dream final even though it was our home game, we didn't get first shot at tickets.. This more than anything should make Port supporters want to not play us, they won't get 1st crack at tickets and only some will get in to the game..

haha yeah just a little go at what the Port board have been worrying about, but with an us finishing above them twist. I'd actually love to see us take them on in another final.

The ultimate finals run is for us to finish 6th, and Port 3rd…setting up a home Semi.

But i hate Port so I'd rather they finish 5th! Of the other top 4 finalists, I think our best chance would be against Geelong.

Hawks, COLA, or Freo in Perth would be a massive ask.

Nope, I was wrong. They've played three games on a Sunday since 2012. Two games on Sunday hasn't been done since 2011.

Oh well, if we do make finals they'll have to schedule us on Sunday for a 7 day break.

You're funny!

You should consider a career in comedy!:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

We're no more assured a finals position than Collingwood are. I can't bring myself to be angry at this. We're wallowing in 7th-10th, so we were never going to get a "good" deal. If there'd been a few more double-ups in finalists, we probably would have been playing on Saturday.

All in all it seems fair. Wouldn't mind having a final round schedule being up in the air as well as the time slots.

Sorry to intrude.

They must be assuming that should Adelaide qualify for finals, that it will only be 8th. As the 5 v 8 EF is played on Sunday, which would be a 7 day break

Sorry to be so blunt, but you're wrong.

Days and times for each game are not decided pre-finals.

They aim to make it so, but it's not always 100%.

Case in point - Adelaide's last EF. 5 v 8. It was a Friday night.

Okay point taken. That was 09 though, the last 4 years have had that fixture, and I would be confident that it would be the case again in 2014.

we lose two of our games and it could be Geel V Ade, hope it doesn't come to that though

We win our last 5, and we could host an Elim on a Sunday :)

Yep, it's going to be an exciting 5 weeks for quite a few teams, so many possibilities still!

We can't really expect any favours. We might make the finals, most likely 7th or 8th, and haven't performed well enough to guarantee it yet.

Sunday is expected based on the other teams, who have earned their spots already.

If we make the finals and it is against Port, I will lose my shit if they change the ticketing arrangements and give it to the teal as a home game.

What if we finish 6th which is a real possibility. Don't do us any favours AFL.

Are you seriously suggesting the AFL should have done us a favour in case we finish 6th at the expense of North Melbourne who, you know, are actually 6th?

The persecution complex on this board is mind boggling.

I'm suggesting they should have played an extra game on the Saturday so all potential finalists get the same rest. That ok?
