Round 5 Trades

The only person I could even possibly at all be considering for next week would be bringing in Coad. Otherwise there is absolutely no reason to trade unless you have an LTI.

Riewoldt B/E is still very high.
Krak's is still very low.

Reiwoldts break even will not be that high as his zero will no longer be in his rolling average.

Based on my calculations he will drop around 47k this week and BE will be around 100.

So he may not go up in price but he should also run into some form against weeker opposition.

im with yogi on this one. Unless my backline takes a hit and looks like copping zeroes, ill stick with Krak for a while. At worst i think he will just hover at his current price. At best he could score a 90+ and go up another 30-40K by time Collingwood has their first bye.

Jack Riewoldt i dont think will be a keeper, especially with Richmonds supply issues to him. So it makes no sense to upgrade from a rookie, to a midpricer, to a keeper. Too many trades involved for 1 position.

Jack Reiwoldt is definitely capable. Are you discounting the impact of the concussion he had in round 2? Plus the fact that Richmond have played Calrton, Saint Kilda, Hawthorn and Collingwood? All have solid backlines.

Wait... What? I disagree. Carlton and Hawthorn have a horrible backline from a key defender perspective (hawks had their better KPD's out injured). Collingwood have horrible key defenders. Saints are OK. What they all do have is good HBF players that intercept/roam around a lot and put pressure on the incoming kicks. But that has nothing to do with their shutdown capabilities of KPFs. I would agree that they all have switched on midfields that can cut down supply from centre clearances.

Though I will agree that Jack does have a chance of finishing in the top 10 fwds... but it will be a stretch and the only spots i have i already have lined up for Chappie and Didak... so.... probably skipping Jack unless he can be my 8th fwd to cover byes etc.

This is what I'd do, Yogi - have Jack as a 7th/8th forward who I shift in and out of the team depending on who Richmond is playing. I think he'll be worth the trade if a decent one pops up. I don't think it's worth doing a double trade for him, but if you have the cash and Krakouer's 40s are hurting your scores you might do it.

where has this belief come from that Jack is about to become a premium? He had one average score in the NAB preseason comp, and other than his round 1 score of 106, he has done nothing else.

Yes you dont get a true indication of his scoring potential when he got concussion or when he got a 0, but wheres this indication, that a FORWARD, playing for a BOTTOM 4 team is going to get a 90+ average? He kicked a handy 4 goals tonight but still only managed 55 points...

For my liking, there is nothing of substance to risk 2 trades on him

Josh Gibson killed Jack Reiwoldt. Tarrant is a solid defender. I agree that these teams own more of the pill which limits Richmond's ability to kick accurately I50 and this is probably moreso the reason his effectiveness was limited.

However, Richmond were a rabble last year and he averaged 84. They have definitely improved this year and with that there will be more opportunities for him. He will improve this year no doubt IMO.

They have four tough games out of the way. The lingering effects from his concussion will disappear and he will be $270k. Ideally it would be nice to keep Krak as he is capable of big score but at $270k there is no risk IMO. Just keep him as an 7th/8th forward.

Jack R is an interesting discussion. Less because of his value (which is obvious) and more about whether you trade for value this year or go straight to the top.

Riewoldt was the 21st ranked fwd last year and if he averages mid 80s will probably similar again.

Most teams have already got 4 premium forwards and will be looking to get in Chappy and Didak to fill 2 of the remaining 3 places. Is Riewoldt really the one to fill F7 or should you be aiming for one of Sylvia / Goodes / SJ etc. Riewoldts not the right option for F8 as he can't swing.

With so much cash this year maybe going to the top will be more important than value.

I'll probably leave my side alone unless Coad pulls in a good score.

Have Simon Buckley on the bench and not sure if he'll play again. FFS I just need 1 more game from him to move his damn price. :(

Conca's good score last night will hopefully see his price rise a bit.

Not sure what to do with Krakoeur, though. Probably won't bench him due to the multi-byes... but geez he could at least be pulling in better than 40/50. :/

To add to this, J Riewoldt is being paid the ultimate complement by getting double teamed in most marking contests. Goes to show how dangerous other teams think he is. Would expect that sort of attention to continue throughout the year, meaning he won't rack up huge DT numbers, even when he does have a good performance for the team and kicks 4 goals like he did last night.

Kraks score of 40 last nights was kind to him considering how terrible he played. I would be very surprised if he didn't find himself in the Magoo's next week.

Not sure if JRoo is the right option but f*ck me Krak is becoming a liability. Upgrade him early and you may make your 300pts up in 6 or 7 rounds.

edit: is 300 still the trade worthy number?

Astbury..... Worst. Pick. Ever.

Definitely bringing in Coad

That...question is who do ya trade out. Lower maybe if he is no longer B22

Yep he's starting to make Presti look Swan-like!

Had him in round 1 and on the bench round 2 ... then swapped him to Heppel (thank god!)

If you have a C/F in your top 7 he can swing though. eg. You can swap Goodes with Prestia on the mid bench and then bring Riewoldt on. Effectively you're still covering your midfield with Riewoldt.

The question for me is, who would you rather as your F8, Riewoldt or Petrie? Petrie can cover the rucks, allow me to use Smith as a cash cow and is cheaper. As long as Petrie goes alright today i'll probably be trading Krakouer --> Petrie this week.
