Logic fail.
Very good point. We're not currently last in 2011, and you weren't in the eight, unless you were thinking of the bottom eight, in 2010. So we're either talking about 2011 or 2010 but not swapping between the two to suit our poorly thought out point.

Why would you expect to win when your the current Wooden Spooners and are playing a current top 8 side thats just won by 90 pts interstate.I just cant work that one out!
I'm afraid I'm not really convinced by your team. Melbourne has been an ordinary side for some time and likely to remain so for some years to come. We, last year's wooden spooners beat you in Melbourne last year. I'd give us a fair chance against you in Melbourne, where we're much worse, and a big chance at home. We've definitely improved this year but I'm not sure that you have. Defeating Brisbane and GC in 2011 doesn't mean a lot.

Don't mind BETON5, he obviously missed the game last year when you pantsed us at the MCG while everyone was talking us up as the next geelong.

Eagles have been very impressive this year. Looks like you are starting your climb back up the ladder.

As for us, I hope we win mainly because after a loss it takes me to about monday to rantionalise our form. Thursday is along way from monday.

p.s come someone please tell Nic Nat not to have a very good game. The media really really enjoy it when he plays well against us. Watts on the other hand just needs to catch a break for a few weeks... :)

I don't think Melbourne will sub Watts again so we need to watch 4 fwds; Jurrah, Green, Maric/Jamar and Watts.

Changes for mine are;
Out - Brown (inj), Dalziell, Nicoski, Lynch
In - Hams, JoJo, Strijk, Wilson

Play Strijk as the sub, Hams across HF and JoJo can take Green
Glass to the resting ruckman, Scofiled to Jurrah, Emac will handle Watts.

We need a FF to play as a leading FF ALL game and leave a good target inside 50 for the fast break.

Strijk to sub for Ebert half way through the 3rd, barring injury of course.

Emac would destroy watts. Jojo on green would be a concern. Schofield to jurrah is a good match up but still dangerous. Not worried about Melbourne's resting ruckman. Sheppard and stevenson both ahead of wilson and jojo atm.

Noone can mount a unbiased argument as to why Lynch should be dropped. As much as it may annoy people his form this season warrants selection.

As for Melbs 90 point win, if you want a reason to totally discredit it, watch the third quarter, the suns outplayed them.

Tis true. I hate both lynch and nicoski as players. And yet i fully admit they don't deserve to be dropped. Their time will come though i am sure but it is not this day.

Glass half empty?

I prefer to recognise both Lynch and Nicoski are playing their roles and contributing to the team effort like many others atm.

Here is my prediction:

Butler Glass Schofield
Hurn Mackenzie S. Selwood
Rosa Priddis Embley
Ebert Kennedy Shuey
Nicoski Lynch Darling

Cox A. Selwood Kerr

Gaff Naitanui Sheppard

S: Hams

E: Swift Strijk McGinnity

In: Sheppard Hams
Out: Dalziell Brown (inj)

My rationale for no Swift is that a defender (Sheppard) has to come in for Brown.

Can't work out if they'll pick Swift or Hams. Can't see room for both of them. Can't see who they'd drop really.

And who will be our sub? Dalziell was a disaster. Maybe Hams would be a good option. Play him on Saturday and then make him the sub the Thursday night.

I'd suggest we will need another fast small backman v the Dees. They have Wonamerri, Bennell and a couple of other small forwards with pace.

So Sheppard for Brown is logical even though I don't think Sheppard is a natural back pocket and want him on the wing instead. Kid is going to need to wait until Embely slows down / retires to get his natural position.

Strijk should come in as a the sub, far more hurt factor than Dalziell and more flexible in the positions he can play.

Maybe bring Hams in down back? Probably a better defender than Smith/Sheppard?

Good call, I think he was a good back pocketfor South Freo in the WAFL for a while. His pressure and foot skills would be handy in our iffy defence. Also Strik for the sub to replace Dalziell. His marking and tackling etc would be a good replacement for lynch in the second half.

Ins: Swift, Weedon, Smith
Outs: Brown, Nicoski, A.Selwood

Swift to be used as the sub, I see no value in playing Dalziel as a sub for 1 quarter when the main ability the bloke has as a footballer is to run flat out for 4 quarters when others will fall away.
In my OP we need to get as many senior games into young players as we can. It's fantastic that we have given the opportunity to Darling and Gaff and they have shone. Let's give it a go with a few more.

Hey guys, what do you guys see as potential midfield match up/tags from your point of view?

I see both teams being pretty evenly matched forward & back & think the midfield is where the game will be won. Your pressure was pretty impressive against the Hawks, I know it's obvious but if you can deny us forward entries like that you'll win

Also, will you guys give anyone a run from your senior team in the WAFL or do you think the short 10 day break kills that idea? Short sighted AFL obviously didn't look at the VFL draw & our VFL team also has a bye this weekend, but not so much of an issue with only having 10 days

OUT McGinnity, Nicoski, Dalziell and Brown
IN Hams, Strijk, Swift and Sheppard

Unless there is a specific tagging role for him, McGinnity doesnt provide more than Hams in his position as well as the fact Hams can kick a couple.

Nicoski has been ok this year but even from early ive thought Strijk getting the opportunities that Nicoski has around the ball is much more attacking and effective around goal.

Dalziell doesnt have the class of Swift. Had a few good WAFL runs now and should come in on form.

Brown needs to be replaced with a defender. Unless Woosha wants to play it safer with a bigger body, Sheppard seems the likely replacement.
