1. We dont need Buddy to fire to win
2. We are worlds away from our best
3. We should have won by 100
3b. We look better in dryer conditions.

I didn't learn much from tonight, although its the tightest I've seen the competition and Hawthorn aren't the powerhouse their supporters think they are. (Just sayin)

1. Longmire was wrong not to play Mitchell earlier
2. We will sneak into 3rd or 4th
The playing of Mitchell seems to have ramped up the contested play of our mids.

Yeah well it's pushed Parker and KJ to forward flanking roles which I think is better for the team.

1. Mitchell just steps into afl footy after long lay offs and looks like one of the leaders every time.

2.reid is playing good footy. Not sure whats happened but he looks like a different player. Alot more aure of himself the past 2 games

3. Tippett can kick well at times, his ball drop however leaves alot to be desired, would not count on it in big occasions

1 if Jetta can get 20 disposals a game minimum we will be a way better side
2 I think the side is way better than we think and they are struggling with the get me back to the grand final already so we can get redemption and it could be costly

3 Rohan is getting better every week

4 we r better with Heeney

5 Goodes was better than people here think

1: we played like shit, this is not something to celebrate this was flat track bullying shit. i feel like we played an all girls regional under 14's team.
2: not even voodoo can stop us hacking that ball forward like ivan mallet on a backpacker.
3: our midfield still playing like shit!

1. Like last year, we are slowly building momentum whilst Hawks are very beatable.
2. Teams are trying to stifle our run - but commentators talk about us as if it's 2005.
3. Our efforts against Port and Freo recently will gradually become more and more consistent over 4 quarters. People in the know recognise that we will be a monster come finals time. Look out.
4. As always, regardless of opposition, we will always lose in one stat: frees for/against. VFL fraud.

1. Smashing lowly ranked sides is becoming a thing of the past the competition is getting more and more even, that being said we were 76-19 at one stage.
2. McVeigh is our best ball user by foot and Mitchell hands in close are something else don't know how he got some of those handballs off.
3. Thats pretty much it really was one of those games where after the 1st QT the game was effectively over.

I honestly didn't learn a thing that was not already known but some points for the sake of emphasis as follows;

1. Goodes is cooked. Fully cooked. A shadow of his former self. Possibly could turn it on against lesser opposition for a quarter and look great if the side makes space around him as his defenders don't respect him anymore and simply peel off him in counter-attack and defence. And of course he is still footy smart but physically gone. The body cannot do what it cannot do. Should be in the NEAFL and used only if we strike a serious run of injuries. I cannot see the point of playing him. Against a set of witches hats last night he performed "ok" barely. With the 4th or 5th defender on him. Give a kid a chance to do the same. Decent sides are going to torch him.

2. Mitchell is as good as we always knew. Baffling he was kept so long from the side. Makes the midfield better. He just does. **** the management speak, the coaches got that wrong.

3. Forwards a heap better with Buddy not the sole target, Tippett deep and smalls/pace running around. In essence the first quarter/half was pretty good though no real standard of play was evident, but the forward half functioned ok. The delivery to them in that time was, well, normal and by that I mean shit but we still won the game there and then.

Mitchell is benefiting the whole team and is freeing up Kennedy, Parker, Hanners to roam and rotate in the forwardline where we look better and less predictable than going to Franklin 40-50% of the time.

Mitchell being promoted has either coincided with or helped cause the coaches to be more concerned with tinkering with different midfield and forward line set ups. Now that we have another guy in there who can win a heap of ball on his own who isn't named Josh Kennedy, the other mids like JPK, Parker, Jack can spend more time resting forward and helping out there.

The term confidence player is used way too much but Sam Reid might actually be a good example of one. He was very clean yesterday and looked composed above all else. He continually won contested ground balls and fired out accurate handballs to teammates. I really liked his game, particularly how he did well all over the ground, HB, wing, deep in defence.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm watching the same game as everyone else. I'm not advocating Goodes stay in against the cats but I thought last night was one of his better games in recent times, particularly defensively. Seems strange people want him out based on last night's performance and not the other substandard ones he's had recently

Mcveigh is still a gun , Reid and Rohan are building . Ball use is still shocking and will get exposed in a fortnight
I agree we have a long way to go but I thought we at least showed a little more composure going forward last night. There were quite a few occasions where we at least attempted a short option instead of just banging it in to buddy

Imo mitchell's only knock is that he gets a bit hungry around goal. Last night he was having a ping from outsides 50 when it fell short and tippett soccered it through. Lower your eyes a bit tom...but other than that pretty strong performance.

Always been that way since game 1, but unfortunately has been a poor finisher in front of goal.

Hawthorn were pretty poor by foot and had no run last night

But they get players and desire back for us

But there is a small hope 2009 is repeating

We do play better against good sides so who knows

When Jetta kicked that awesome goal and we were 7 goals up the side actually looked good

Just play 4 quarters of decent footy

Hope Lloyd is ok

Shaw is a bigger issue than Goodes and will cost us more against good sides

1. Sorry Bird, but Mitchell has to stay
2. Reidy is so valuable when he's switched on. can see why they persevered
3. Love Rohan's game. Stat sheet doesnt reflect his performance. If only he held a couple more marks and kicked the two goals
