I really *en hate Ross Lyon.

Just parked a million people in our forward line all quarter and it ended up being a 2 goal to 1 quarter. Just bullshit coaching. He's made a career out of this crap.

He don’t care. They are #1 at going D50 to FWD 50. He’ll play a spare all game because that’s where he wants to launch scores from.

Interesting game overall:

• Meek playing a monster game. Again. Love the big man
• Moore is so relentless at the contest
• Love it when Newcombe plays well
• Day is so creative with handballs - hardly ever does those 1m handballs - prefers to hold onto it and hit the release player out wide and it changes how we play.
• We got tired at the end of that quarter and started kicking long and losing all the marking contests.
• Ginni is smart and I love having him in the team.
• Dear - even when he gets beaten - is in the right position and doing everything right. Can't believe it's his second game. Can believe it's his first season.
• Hardwick down back is the reason we didn't give up any goals in the last 2 minutes. Hell, we almost got one ourselves!
• We've been opened up twice in exactly the same way with their switch.

Newcombe had 12 touches that quarter, he was huge.

Nash - 4

Midfield worked into the game a bit more.

Got that trademark overhead gutsy mark going again as well, love it.

The long bombs just kill us. When we move it quickly we look really dangerous.

That entry from Day was criminal. I'd rather we pass it around the fringes of the 50 and look for an option, or hand it off to a runner (though Saints will wise up to that), instead of an up and under. Dear has no chance against Wilkie + Howard and Battle coming off their man.

Lyon is such a dull coach. He could see we were getting some good movement through our forward line so he just floods a lot of players back there. Then they just chip around and hope to make a break.
We need to work our way through it a bit better. Perhaps a designated kicker outside 50 to be given license to have a ping from range.

That was so frustrating. The longer he had the ball the mpre you knew he was going to bomb it.

Kick sideways and force the pack to divide. At least split them...

And he knows this. But took the lazy option.

We are asking a huge amount from Dear in game 2. Don't think he's got the aerobic capacity just yet to be able to do repeat efforts in packs. It's incredibly taxing for seasoned players, let alone a first year player who is still very raw.

Up to the ball users to identify it.
Saints play a very basic brand of footy. Shut down the keys and slog out the game.
We have to be aware of that and use the wings and flanks, not just send it to a contest up forward
