Dissapointing effort by the boys today, faded out of it badly after looking to have the Bulldogs measure.

Possible changes for next week;

In = Clement, Medhurst

Out= Toovey, Dick

Bryan had a shocker today, but you would still lean to him over Richards.

Holland is still struggling to find his best but will improve over the next few weeks.

Danny Stanley is knocking on the door & Cox may be a chance also to come in.

Don't think we will make wholesale changes, we have to forgive them for one bad half of football.

Dick and Goldsack did enough to hold their spots I think. Not the worst on ground by far. Out of the two Dick is more likely to go back I think. Toovey may go back to Williamstown.

Cox, Medhurst may come in and Clement if he's fit.

Id rather keep the young guys in the side, maybe move a plodder out of the way, holland maybe.

Stanley would be very close, but he obviously is playing with confidence at the moment in the 2's and you have to take into account is it a good idea to bring him in after 2 good games in the 2's or whether he needs to impress one more time. Either way I would be happy to see Medders or Stanley in. Maybe play Stanley in the role that Toovey has been playing.

Toovey to me still has a lot more to develop in his game. He seems very slow ball to foot. He looks like he needs a rest at the minute.

Dick was really good today. He created some opportunities for himself and team mates and chased hard.

Not impressed with Goldsack today

What, he is not excused at all? The pressure was on Collingwood. He didn't fumble the ball or make an error by foot, that's what you would want from a debutant.

How can you say he was unimpressive? I'd like to hear your thoughts on our power forwards who should have kicked a few more goals between them.

Because his direct opponent kicked 4 that i saw. He was not accountable.

I haven't been impressed once with watching Goldsack the times I have seen him play (three now). He does the odd flashy thing, and then does a shithouse thing. Him jumping over Higgins in the first quarter when he had the sit to punch the **** out of the ball was embarassing.

Every second or third week a select few seem to come on here and talk player x up like he is the second coming of God. A prime example of this was Nicholls. After his first game people were saying he was the worst player ever to pull on the black and white. Goldsack will be the same (except I have never talked him up).

Ins - Medhurst, Clement (if fit - if not Wakelin)
Outs - Toovey, Goldsack

And what was wrong with Dick's game, I thought he went ok today.

Out of his depth.

Jesus we just picked up the kid at number 63 in the national draft and he's played one game.. how about we give him another game before delisting him

Ive seen goldsack a few times and thought he was a player each time.

I want to see him keep his spot so we can have a good look at him.

I reckon he will end up a good player for us.

Why should any player out there be excused?
As soon as they step out onto the ground as one of Collingwoods 22 players, everyone needs to be judged they same way.

I think he'll be a player, but simply, today I was unimpressed. No excuses.

"Because his direct opponent kicked 4 that i saw. He was not accountable."

That sums it up quite well too I think.

But I don't see what relevance this has to Goldsacks game?

I agree with Hoggy too. People come on here, and drop a few young kids names and how they should definitely be selected next week because somewhow they are going to miraculously change the way we play for the better.

I personally think we probably should have gone a safer option and brought Cox back in instead. Higgins completely towelled Goldsack today, and it was an experience thing. We've got enough young kids running around as it is, Goldsacks been good for a few weeks in the VFL, but it seems theres a rush to get these guys out on the park. If he's good, he'll be consistently good for a long time, and development time in the Ressies definitely won't hurt him.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming him for the loss today. Like I said, he's footskills seem quite clean and he moves pretty well, but he got exposed today in their 50, where as someone with a little more experience may not have. He frustrated me a lot today with he's defensive positioning along with a few other things.
You can't look at him as a debutant, MM always says he picks the best 22 possible, and once they are out there, theres no excuses for their performance.
I just think he probably could have been played in a less intense game, it was a very hard game to debut in. Just like Nicholls first game in the West against the Coasters, very tough stage.

It's not a post to write him off or anything, just gotta make an honest opinion of he's performance, I don't think it's unfair. But he was out of he's depth today, and we were left a bit exposed down back.

Try reading the thread dimwit, before posting utter garbage.

People are assessing the game and the players, wake up would you

I think Goldsack would be hard done by to lose his spot. Wasn't the worst by a long way. Mick should keep him in just so he doesn't lose confidence.

this may seem weird, but on performances of the last few games i would get rid of R Shaw and O'bree, i think we should treat the older players the same as the younger ones and they both played worse than Goldsack and Toovey.

Agree that Goldsack was out of his depth today. He just never looked fully comfortable and he did a few things that cost us.

His opponent kicking 4 goals on him was all that was needed to see that he didn't have a particularly good game and the fact that it was Higgins who is a 19 year old (admittedly with a lot of talent) just shows that he's not yet ready to mix in the big time.

There were some positives from him but he needs to go back to Willi to work on some of his deficiencies.

How many fit playerswe got? Give em all a game, no doubt none of them could play as bad a half as what the 22 out there did today

In: Wakelin, Medhurst, Cox, Stanley
Out: Take your pick

I jokingly said a couple of weeks ago to send a 2nds side up to Brisbane, could still get the 4 points and avoid injuries from their thuggery, now we may as well because this 22 wont beat anyone with efforts like that, maybe a wakeup call and a rest for them will do some good as I assume there is no VFL next week for the state game?

But Wakes and Medhurst must come in, even if Wakes plays forward, he migh atleast take a mark unlike our 3rd tall today who the only time he got itwas from a free kick and he hit the post with the kick

Disgraceful performance which should be met with major changes

I dont understand? OB played really well today and got in the best. Some of his inside work was great and tough. Rhyce was quite bad today but he is an important player for us. Great drive. I think that it would be idiotic if we were to drop these two.
