Prediction Round 9 Changes vs Hawthorn

What is the Temu reference all about. Is this something to do with a lesser version of Jeff Farmer???

when we last played Hawks at Optus we didn't have Alex Pearce, McVee or YOUNG

we had Banfield (love him but appreciate there are better players), JOM and Darcy, BUT we also had Oscar McDonald in defence

we still managed to hold Watson to just 1 goal

Switta was our best player and he kicked 3 goals

Go Freo :)

McVee for Sharp likely the only change. Voss has been poor but we don't know what the extent of his illness was.
I've had that flu that is going around, and the symptoms lasted about 3 days, but I've been tired for a week after that. Just coming good. Voss should be cherry ripe if it follows the same trajectory.

Calls for major changes are wild when we're playing an in form team in the Hawks - we need the players that have stood up under pressure all season, not lads that have played in WAFL losses.

McVee for Sharp is the only rational change in my opinion.

Ginnivan, MacDonald and Moore. They go up and down the ground a lot!

They want turnovers and to then take off as soon as they get it.

Still a chance for someone to write a late preview for this game..

Hope freo bring up the afl free kick differential
And the head high debacle v bullies
Less confrontationally, but saying the same thing, I'd like to see the club ask the AFL to explain what high contact does and doesn't look like, and what ducking does and doesn't look like, so that we can tweak our tackling technique. A public statement from the umpiring department ahead of the Hawthorn game would be ideal.

After all, the reason for the rule is to minimise contact with the head, and if we're doing wrong, the AFL should want to help us out, right? For the good of the game.

I think we will deal with Gunston two ways:
1. cut off his leading lanes, this will take a lot of work from the mids to fill the space and may involve Ryan or Worner cutting across
2. defend him tightly within 30-40m of the goal to make sure any shots he has are quite wide on the boundary or beyond 50m

otherwise I think we provide enough contest and pressure that it should be a great matchup

I really expect our defence to start shutting down big scores - Pearce as our spiritual leader alongside 3x All Australian defenders in Cox, Ryan and Clark, with Worner in prime form.

That’s pretty big news right?
They've got pretty good depth in the KPF role, even with Chol and Dear out they have McCabe to come in, or even Schubert, or they could roll someone like Scrimshaw back forward.

Dear might not seem like a big out, but he's got a bucketload of talent and kicked 3 against us last year. Could have been due for a good game, a bit like Amiss breaking out of his goal kicking slump a month ago.

Queue some nobody like Schubert or McCabe coming in and tearing us a new one in the tradition of that Rhys Stanley and company thread.

No. Lots on the Hawks board had him being potentially dropped. Still anytime an oppo player can’t get up generally helps
Last 2 weeks he's been average but we were hoping he was going to work he's way into some form. Always seems to get these niggles ATM, he had an Interrupted pre season this year too. We may decide to put Weddle forward to replace Dear or bring Ramsden in who's played a few senior games who's over 200cm and can also ruck.

Defender, so Sicily or Weddle to swing forward you would think

Mid sized defender, plays on the dangerous smalls at VFL level. Actually did a number on Harley Reid regularly in their junior years against each other. My guess is we are looking to lockdown on your smalls and free up Amon and Impey to run and carry. We are terrible at ground balls inside D50 and the extra smaller player should help with this.
