Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. I'm going to upgrade Bird this week and I can only afford like 500k, there are players like Swan, Kornes and even Lewis. But, Chappy is miles more tempting.

Kornes will run a muck when his brother Cornes comes back. Well hopefully anyway. Get Chappy in the forward line and use the space for another elite in the midfield. Otherwise you losing a starting position in the midfield, where in forwards and backs are hard to replace with an elite player.

McLeod's shocker should see him come down $60k so I'll try and get him in I think.

Scratch that, I just noticed his BE of 196. Will wait a week (or two).

Might just trade Rioli to free up some cash this week - probably for Valenti.

Is it worth keeping Medhurst do you think? I can trade him up to any forward in the league. Was thinking O'Keefe, Chappy or Richo.

My current forward line is -

Franklin, Pavlich, Brown, Burton, Porps, Medhurst, Tippet

Gamble and Valenti emergencies!

Rioli and N. Thompson out
valenti and Champman in

Next week
Tippet out O'Keefe in
and maybe masten out cotchin in

Thoughts on the masten-cotchin trade

I reckon cotchin can equal mastens score so might not be a bad downgrade there. How much money would you get from that upgrade? I have no idea how much masten is worth at the moment.

Thats what i figured as well you get about 150,000 and although masten hasnt peaked i dont see any other standout cheap midfielders that havent played.

I always have a 5 week plan, and I've just noticed that my last 3 weeks have gone according to plan. This week will as well. Next week has changed though, because McLeod will be dirt cheap.

Just some thoughts, is Chappy in the middle a waste of time? Should he be in the forward line instead?

Or is doesnt really matter?

it's not like he's only going to be playing in the middle in real life mate. i have roughead in my defence and he plays at full forward! all that matters is the points!

He is asking because of the greater depth in the midfield, as opposed to the forward line. I.e., getting Chappy in the midfield will prevent him from picking up other gun mids who may bottom out, or even those who don't. Whereas in the forward line, Chappy is one of the few reliable guns.

It's Jeffrey reincarnate!

As if you could play a full forward in defence. Madness I tells ya!

$75k in the bank, only 9 trades left.

This week: Ryder out, Myers/Neagle in.
Next week: Wonaeamirri/Houli out, Cotchin in.
Week after: Proud/Pears out, Cornes in.
After that: Pray Kennelly survives and I don't get any more injuries.

Jesus I thought I was burning trades!!! You do realise we aren't even at the halfway mark yet?

Where are you placed in your leagues?? If you are sitting pretty near the top I would rethink a a few of those trades so you have a few more up your sleave come finals.

I think you're missing the point but more likely I didnt explain it clearly.

Chappy in the forward line is in essence a 7th midfielder with his 100+ scores.

What I meant should I try to put him in the forward line and fill up my remaining 3 midfield spots with guns who average 110+.

See my point.

But anyways I'll be putting Chappy in the centre as I am happy with my forwards and my cashies havent peaked yet in Gamble, McKinely. (possibly bar Cyril who I will keep as my eventual 6th/7th forward.) If I wait to long I feel Chappy will become too expensive.

Houlis B/E of only 65 has me thinking though but he isnt a consistent 100 point scorer. And Chappy is just so cheap like Dal was last week. :)

I know. I've had a few monster injuries to cover, a couple of total duds to replace, and made a stupid trade or two. :(

I'm 4-1 in both leagues, but I really want Chad. After those three, I'll have a solid team with playing subs, so only need trades to cover long-term injuries or finals. It's going to be tight but I should scrape through.

Week 10: Out: M Murphy, T Tuck; In: J Bartel, T Cotchin

Out:
N Brown (Coll)
C Rioli (Haw)

In:
H Shaw (Coll)
M Pavlich (Frem)

Was originally thinking of trading R Palmer out for an elite midfielder but not now, or at the moment anyway, Palmer is doing a fantastic job as my 6th midfielder.

?. Murphy is a gun. ?. Palmer is a gun.

You're right, I'd much prefer Murphy and Palmer than Harvey and Bartel.

What was I thinking?

Spot on - there are guns and there are guns.

I had a quick look at the top 10 teams in Supercoach and one thing stood out like dogs balls. 8 of the top 10 teams has G. Ablett in their lineup and I imagine that most of them would have him as their captain every week. I did that last year and reaped the rewards, however decided that we was too dear at the start of the year this year. Silly me. Wish I had him now. Going to try to up Palmer to him in a couple of weeks hopefully.

Some guns are just must haves. Even if they are nearly 3/4 of a million dollars.

There is a good reason that he costs so much - he is averaging 140!!!

Likewise with Jimmy - 100's at will - averaging 120. Palmer whilst being sensational is only averaging 85, which compared to 120 or 140 is quite a difference.

Perhaps Palmer------>Bartel

And another cash cow ------> to Boomer.

Unless you have no money maker on the bench.

Murph is having a great year with Stevens and Judd, could be the difference to your side.

Just my thoughts is all. :)
