Collingwood debuting young mid Angus Anderson. Pick 57 off last year's draft

No changes this week. Next week will be interesting barring injuries if Young and Freddy are fit, Scerri being the obvious out for Fred, whereas whoever is out for Young is less obvious.

Going off CBA’s I think we’ll stick with Shai playing more time out of the middle until Young plays a few consecutive matches more forward. Raz plays almost permanent wing and JOM gets pushed out altogether.

Midfield rotations of Darcy, Jackson, Serong, Brayshaw and Bolton, with pinches from Young, Reid and Johnson - I think this is our best balance.

To pick the bottom five it might be useful to go in the other direction - who is picked first:
  1. Pearce (first because he's the captain);
  2. Serong;
  3. Treacy;
  4. Jackson;
  5. Brayshaw;
  6. Young;
  7. Bolton;
  8. Clark;
  9. B. Cox;
  10. Reid;
  11. Darcy;
  12. Switkowski (on best form);
  13. Amiss;
  14. Chapman;
  15. Johnson;
  16. Voss;
  17. Frederick;
  18. Ryan;
  19. Dudley;
  20. McVee;
  21. Wagner;
  22. Erasmus;
  23. Worner.
This is B23, obviously, and I have Worner at the bottom for mine because he is under pressure to keep Walker out. It is silly in a way to rank like this because, and I love this saying, it's horses for courses (many thanks JL). Comfortable to say that that first 18/19 is automatic and it's only the last 4/5 that are debatable.

Pressuring from the outside
  1. M. Cox;
  2. Walker;
  3. JOM;
  4. Scerri;
  5. Murray;
  6. NOD;
  7. Banfield
  8. Draper;
  9. Davies;
  10. Sweid;
  11. Nichols.
So, ultimately for me it would be Frederick and Young in for Scerri and JOM. I would love to see Walker given a few more games too.

I'm relatively fine with JOM getting a game when the options are Sharp/NOD coz that's a wash imo (tho I wanna see Sharp in this team if he continues to develop his contest work).

But once Young and Freddy are back, JOM has to be 1 of the 2 out. Unless Young is turned into a half back, I genuinely don't see a valid counter-argument.

Sharp just doesn’t like the physical stuff could not see a reason to consider him. Being an elite runner is not enough. He has had plenty of chances. Days are numbered

Scerri for frederick
JOM for Young. Simples

Days can't be too numbered - we signed him for 2 years last year.

He's been playing inside at WAFL level to good effect - peep the Peel thread. Ended with 28 disposals. To half time he had 14 disposals 9 contested possessions and 4 clearances (don't know what CPs and CLRs were by full time - the broadcast didn't have that and idk where else those stats are recorded).

Clearly getting Mason Cox's silver service helps, but we're also trying to toughen him up - with his skillset, averaging under 4 CPs a game at AFL level won't cut it.

Scerri on the plane
Surely we need to start putting some pressure on players like him as his last two weeks have been pretty ordinary. The bottom 3 or 4 players always need to feel the pressure to perform and not get too comfortable until they produce a quality patch of form home and away over a few weeks.

Unchanged I reckon. Should be a good tussle, Pies won't be easy, and they'll be hurting after getting a touch up last week.
Freo looking to hit their straps after 3 wins in a row. Freo by 10 points

FFS are we for real!!! Give the kid a break. He has played three games. His first was a blinder showing what we can expect.
Stop the crap of bagging him out.
He has been reasonable in his other two games.
IF Freddy and Young were available to be selected then he would not be playing. He is doing a good job so far.He will go back as soon as the afore mentioned are ready to play.

Next week Young and Frederick are back.

No one banging down the door on form, and we are winning.

I have no issues with Scerri getting another game, I also have no issues with Banfield taking his place.

I suspect we'll be unchanged personally, Scerri has had a decent block of games to get some experience which is great and he's had some good moments.

We have gone past the Bailey Banfields i would have thought unless we have an injury crisis.

We shouldnt be playing him

The hate he receives is ridiculous IMO.

He's best 23 in probably about half the teams in the competition and we should be very happy to have the option of bringing him after just one or two injuries.

Interesting challenge.
