It's the Jordanian flag so likely Clarky.

I wouldn't say that, he played well against Richmond and apart from that last howler, his game against Adelaide was solid, he didn't get a lot of it, but when he did it was usually good.

The coaches obviously value him in the side, that's okay with me.

Scerri for frederick
JOM for Young. Simples
Freddie needs to come back via WAFL. He isn’t that good to automatically join the first team after a huge layoff.

If we're being honest, Scerri is basically doing the bare minimum now. If Freddy is fit enough to run out the majority of the game, which he probably is regardless of his layoff, then he takes Scerri's spot with ridiculous ease.

Scerri had 0 kicks and 1 tackle last week. He also had the second lowest time of ground of any docker at 59%

The week before he had 2 kicks and 0 tackles.

His time of ground is getting lower by the week.

It's an instant upgrade in every single way

He is clearly best 23 and has only missed 4 games (did nearly the whole pre-season). Scerri had one good game and 2 quiet ones, although people on here got a little overexcited based on a couple of nice moves. Once he is fully fit he should be coming straight in.

Freddy needs to not bring that early game fumbles, not when the games are so fast, at the end of the game the whips cracking and those moments of fumbles lead to turnovers and mistakes. I think he will offer more that Scerri at the moment though.

I love Freddie, but I don't see any harm in him playing 1 week @ Peel.

If he balls out there he'll be straight in for the derby.

It's not like Scerri has been costing us games so far and if his numbers don't exactlty stack up on Friday night, it's a straight swap.

You could say the same about Young, would there be any advantage to him having 1 game at Peel where thg speed of the game is a bit less and there is less need to take off quickly and put more pressure on the hamstring.

It would be an interesting debate / trial to see which one works better. One extra week of training, vs one week at the WAFL to get match fitness.

I do think Frederick is best 23 easily. People have recency bias based on that final last year.

Realistically what he produces most games isn't comparable to anyone outside the best 23.

Obviously Young is a top 10 (probably top 5) player on our list but in terms of how to fit him in is a bigger question for me.

The club deciding Frederick and Young shouldn't return the same week is the only reason either would play WAFL IMO. Do actually think the club might think about Young as a forward which could delay Frederick's return.

The argument is probably pretty accurate, there isn't really a better fitness/form test than actual game time. Like I said, if Freddie is truly ready to slot back into the big game, he'll tear the WAFL apart. And even if he has an average game, it's still a pretty good eye test for if he offers more of an advantage compared to Scerri. IMO.

Young was actually the next player I was considering as an example of feeding back through Peel, but considering he's due back for the Derby, the advantage to that is negligable.

The last part is the key consideration I reckon, but I think they'd be more likely to give Freddie an extra week of a training block than put him in WAFL.

Overall I'd still be surprised if they didn't pull the trigger when they're both ready, from the weekend Scerri and Johnson both had about 60% game time, so you'd bring those back at similar and bump Johnson's up.
Also just quietly Reid running at 90% in his second year is pretty incredible.

You don't get the Ferrari to plow the field when you get it back from the mechanic to see if it's fixed properly.

Another thing about the derby is it's on Sunday, whilst Peel's game is on Saturday. It's a six day break between AFL games.

Might be better to bring in a few reinforcements off a seven day break from Peel. That could be a Young or Frederick.

With the way our wingers are being clearly "layered" these days, I wouldn't be surprised to see Freddy occupy a wing-type role.

What we've seen over the first 4 rounds is Wagner is almost an extra half back, Ras and Johnno have been about central with Ras being the further back of the 2 (harder to discern coz they've played a fair bit inside), and JOM and NOD quite forward (JOM currently classifies as a mid-fwd per Champion Data). With Dudley playing himself into a spot and Young probably being a fwd-mid type short-term, I reckon that opens the door for Freddy to be that really attacking wing-fwd.

In the past a Freddy wing move seemed silly coz they were all about central, and Freddy getting possessions in or just off d50 seems silly. But I think it makes a degree of sense now with them being layered like that.

I'm hesitant to bring a player like Young back in the WAFL, I'd rather give him another week in match sim and then build him in the AFL as the 5th bench spot.
Too afraid of some numbnuts in the WAFL trying to be a hero and injure him

edit - not to mention the relatively easy run we have after Pies (WCE/CARL) he should be primed for Bulldogs by then
